  1. It's the old community vs market argument.

There are people (and I am one of them) who like to think of places like this, where people who have a common interest gather, are proper communities. Within these communities there is perhaps an idealistic expectation that the members will act with the community interests at heart. It is always a disappointment when you see something that falls short of that. Even when there is no legal basis for complaint, the community ideal has been offended.

But we live in a market driven world and that will invade all places where there are transactions taking place. The hope is that they don't happen often enough to damage community spirit, and if they do then the community should try to take steps to reduce the problem.

I've not been a member here long, but I have seen some great community spirit displayed by some members, I have also seen some less charitable behaviour! Let's just hope the good continues to outweigh the bad. ;)

Should be able to cover up that West Ham logo with the remaining £13 too!

Scrape it off with a screwdriver.

Then it will looked relic'd too!

  4. OK, I know it's essentially an oxymoron given why Leo gave it the name he did, but my question stands. What options are there for a fretless Precision?
And when I say Precision I mean Precision sized neck, no PJ pickups or any other aberrations. Just a standard Precision bass but without frets.
I have found one so far. Most of the others have either a jazzy neck, or a jazzy pickup or something else decidedly non-precisiony. Help me please. ;)

Moollon Classic P in faded sonic blue with a mint guard... currently filling the P bass hole in my life with aplomb.

    The old and the new.

    Both absolutely gorgeous!

  6. It might be worth him seeking specialist help. There may be things that he can do to alleviate the problem and allow him to continue playing. Probably not for your band, but for his own enjoyment in the long run it's got to be worth a shot.

Trouble is if in six months time OP decides that it's not for him, he'll be selling a five year old bass. I'd be interested to know where it was ordered from?

    And at what price!

American Standards are not the current range anyway, so anyone buying an American Standard now is essentially buying NOS anyway. ;)

  8. I've no doubt the guy is incredibly talented, but it's not bass IMHO.
If that is what it takes for bass to be relevant then I'll be happy with obscurity.
And I'm 43, so no baby boomer.
Obviously YMMV and all that. <_<

  9. How rough are the gigs you are planning on playing? Hit folk on the head with your bass Sid Vicious style rough?
Is not the point of buying a really nice bass that you love, playing it? Or do you intend to just play the '64 at home? Can't you gig with it but be careful to use the guitarists '59 Les Paul if you need to club someone over the head, and don't leave the '64 unattended?
