Rockbass asking prices on ebay are notoriously high. Mine cost me £115 on here, but I've frequently seen them sell for £100 or less. The PJs sell for about £60-70 second hand, I think.

I'll try different volume settings on the PJ. However, I think I have done this in the past.

IMHO, mine isn't as a good a five string bass as my (old-style, big logo) Rockbass Streamer Standard 5. They really are in different price ranges if you compare the new prices, but second hand prices are much less different. The Rockbass needs some sort of boost to the signal as the passive output is very low, but comes alive through my Harley Benton Graphic EQ. Even if I boost the output of the PJ 5, it isn't such a good sound IMHO. They are different sounds so that may be comparing apples to oranges, but I think that the boosted Streamer sound is good, the PJ 5 ... if I was going to keep it forever, I'd change the pickups.

I'm no bass expert, but that's my opinion.

I think about three of my titles are usable. "One more train to ride" is IMHO not bad. For a whole stream of song titles, getting a few usable ones isn't a bad hit rate, IMHO.

I'm sorry but I don't understand this. How can a single jack be both high z and low z? I assumed that the jack would be high z and the XLR would be low z.

Does anyone know: Do the Harley Benton acoustic basses with the generic pre-amp have a low Z or high Z XLR output.

It does seem logical that it would be low Z, but these are cheap basses and corners may be cut. On the other hand, I see no evidence that the electronics on my bass are anything less than well designed and implemented.

I'm influenced by both. I've just bought the Roxy Blu-ray but haven't had a chance to play it yet. Bands/Composers like Zappa, Beefheart, and the Terrortones have it relatively easy with as their niche not only allows unusual song titles, it's expected. If I had been deliberately making Zappa or Beefheart style titles, I would have gone even weirder though

It's a challenge to come up with more straightforward titles which have a good chance of being original. All of these have had a very quick check on google. I've rejected some song titles where there was something similar. E.g. "The River Flows on Forever" - there is a "The River that Flows Forever." I've tried to not cheat by swapping words - E.g. I could have gotten away with "The Amazon Flows Forever", but don't feel that would be right.

This may be getting self-indulgent. I'll stop.

It's easy to come up with original song names, but only if they are long and/or unusual/humourous. E.g. I don't think anyone has ever written a song called "You Leave those Galapagos Tortoises Alone", "My Baby Puts Saffron in her Custard", or "Stegasaurus Reggae Stomp".

The built in one on my HB acoustic-electric bass seems to work fine. I use it to check my fretless intonation, and I think it is more accurate than my ear is.

Sorry to hear that no-one got a Les Paul. It did seem unusual that they stayed up as long as they did. When I saw them up there, I was damn tempted to go for the gold top just because. But, I already have a Vintage (brand) Les Paul.

The more expensive Les Paul is gone, but the gold top LP and the Jazz are still showing as available.

Very surprising.

Hopefully more confirmations on the way.
