1.
Mine is Tobacco Burst which is another early colour changed to retroburst was it DrT? Being a May 2010 it's very early for a UK five string. 2.
Much as I love the late 80s/90s Stingrays, the Classics have one or two extra features - the one which most appeals to me is strings through bridge - to my mind this adds quite a bit of sustain. However the neck radius is different and they have skinny vintage frets. These basses are absolutely top notch. I have a coral red one - very nice indeed, in fact quite gorgeous, but some people prefer the more classic (for MM) colours (natural/sunburst). The coral red colour was only made for about 12 months so there aren't that many around.
Thanks dr T I do prefer the natural finishes. I didn't know they only did them for about a year in Coral. The one I saw was 2011 I think. It looks a little bit pink to me. Maybe it was just the photos I saw.
 3. Thanks for all the replies. I think I will try and pick up a used one first. I saw one for £1200 but not sure if the Coral Red colour is for me. I'm not in a rush to buy so I can wait for the right one to come up for sale. It sounds like there is much love for the classic! Thanks
 4. Hi all. I currently have a mid 90's MM Stingray 4 , 2 band eq and love the thing. It's one of my best gear purchases ever. I'm thinking of getting a Stingray classic 4 too. I'm a total sucker for birdseye! My questions are.... Will there be enough of a difference soundwise to my Stingray? Will they sound almost identical? I know there are differences such as radius, slab body etc. Anyone with experience of both? I only started bass after years of playing guitar 6 months ago and have never had the chance to play a Classic Stingray. Wish I had picked up bass years ago. Cheers
 5. Thanks. Its a bit far from me. I have only seen video reviews so wanted to try before I buy. GLWTS!
 6.
If you have a mixing desk then that presumably has a headphone out, so all you need is an amp with a DI/line out (which would be all of them I guess) which you feed into the mixer.
Thanks Bassman. I really don't like the desk for listening to music in headphones as it sounds lifeless to me. It's great for live use though.
 7. Thanks again to everyone for the replies. The sfx H1 looks like it fits the bill. Now I need to get practising.....
 8.
SFX H1. Max is a member here http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/h1/
Thanks. This looks like the one! It looks quality. I never heard of this company before. When I get my amp head I could DI into this too. I'm really lusting for the darkglass 900. I do have my mixing desk but its bulky and I don't like the messing about it takes to plug all the bits in plus it just does not sound great with headphones. Going to have a proper look on the net and probably order this tonight. Thanks for the info!
 9. Thanks to all for the replies. I now have some research to do this evening. Much appreciated.
 10.
Glockenklang Steamhammer.
Sounds like a 70's German pornstar! It must be good. Will check it out thanks
 11. Hi. It's my first post. Just got a nice 95 stingray after getting bored of years of guitar. I only play at home and I'm enjoying being able to play along to tracks through headphones but I need a better sound. I want to feel immersed in the track I'm listening to and the bass to sound like it's in there if you see what I mean? I have a vox amplug and an allen and heath mixing desk but the music sounds flat and lifeless. I have a good pair of headphones (AKG K67) music from most sources sounds incredible through them. I have looked at the Mesa D800 online which has aux in and the laney studiolive. I would have bought the darkglass 900 in a heartbeat if it had the headphone option. This amp sounds great to me. I'm looking to gig in the future so an amp head with headphone out is my preferred option. I also tried a genz that did not do it for me. Am I expecting too much? My other option is an Apollo Audio Twin Duo interface and Ampeg plug-ins. Can anyone recommend something that fits the bill that I could gig with in the future and use as a GREAT headphone amp now. Thanks in advance😃
