    Compressor pedal

Thanks Boodang yep that rabbit hole of looking at 10.000 reviews and getting completely bamboozled by the whole thing , yep I’ve heard the tc spectracomp is good but I’m not really one for computer downloads so put off with all the downloadable tone prints really , I simply need to try a few out so just seeing what pedals seem popular as on all the time compressors and that are pretty simple to dial in Thanks again Stu

    Compressor pedal

Thanks ezbass appreciate that , yep I thought the visual guide of how much compression your adding on the MXR was a useful addition best regards Stuart
  7. Hi folks would really appreciate your views if you have any experience with this I’ve been reading up a lot recently about compressors as I may be changing to a new head soon possibly a Markbass Vintage 1000 if I like it my current head is a Ashdown ABM 600 evo iv which I’ve always like but want a lighter head to lug around and especially as the Ashdown is flight cased which adds to the weight . The Markbass doesn’t have a compressor so looking into getting a good pedal , the two so far that have caught my attention is the Keeley bassist and the MXR m87 , both have generally good reviews plus in my budget but the top end has anyone had experience with either of these or others you would recommend , I’m looking to have it as a on all the time pedal , I use the ABM compressor and my basic reasons for wanting compression is to tighten up the bottom end and to enable my rig to perform at higher volume ( if needed ) without peaks crapping my speakers out thanks guys stuart
  8. Ok thanks for info appreciate that , I’m going to try the Markbass Vintage 1000 at the weekend and also hoping to try the Ashdown rm 800 if they’re able to get me one in . I have the Ashdown ABM 600 evo iv at the moment which I’ve always liked very much but interesting in trying the Markbass as never played through one Best regards Stuart
  9. Know it well I used to go there quite a bit back in the day to the Quicks archery shop , I presume it’s still there
  10. Hi Steve that is very kind thank you I’ll certainly keep that in mind , I’m pretty keen to hang on until they’re available again over here but is certainly looking like it’s next year unfortunately best regards Stuart where are you based out of interest
  11. Hi Steve thanks for the message really appreciate that and that’s very kind of you , I’m near Tonbridge Kent best regards Stuart
  12. Thanks Merton I’ll take a closer look at the GK heads , for some reason I always presumed they had a real signature gk growl to them which is great if your after that , but I’ve no doubt you can adjust that dirt from 0 to 100% which would be perfect definitely worth a look Thanks Stu
  13. Thanks Lozz yep again not tried any Ashdown RM series amps , we do at times play large stages but often backline is supplied but not always so definitely need a head that can deliver powerful lows and fairly high volume, any opinions on the Markbass vintage heads the new 1000 looks interesting stu
  14. Thanks for the Mesa info Merton such a shame would have liked to have tried one out , I’ve not tried any GK heads , I think they’re known to have a dirty grindy edge to them is that right or is that very adjustable incase you wanted a more clean sound with just a touch of grind Stu
  15. Thanks three really appreciate that and yes a very interesting review he certainly likes his Mesa gear and particularly the TT 800 it’s not something I could buy blind on as it’s a massive purchase price wise it just an amp that seems very appealing to me , looks like I’m in for a long wait to try one out , do you know why Mesa are not supplying Europe at the moment thanks again Stuart
  16. Thanks Bunion appreciate that all sensible ideas but I like to keep everything really simple I’m not into pedals and add ons particularly apart from a tuner and volume pedal , as I say I like the sound of my current set up I’m just interested in a light weight amp and the Mesa TT 800 looked interesting , any other class d recommendations would be gratefully listened to thanks stu
  17. Hi guys I’m looking to get a light weight class d head and wondered if anyone here has had experience with the Mesa Subway heads particularly the TT 800 as it has both tube and SS channels which is appealing to me I’ve never heard any Mesa bass amps and they always talk of the Mesa sound , what is that ? I like the Ampeg vibe and have their neo 410 / 210 cabs which to me with the Ashdown ABM 600 IV sounds gorgeous , but with the head in a flight case is pretty heavy , but certainly wouldn’t get rid of it it’s a lovely amp But I like the idea of reducing my trips to the car and helping my back out a bit The Mesa TT 800 certainly on paper and pretty much all the reviews seems very appealing but would very much appreciate any views from the Basschat community best regards Stuart
  18. The 212av was another cab I was thinking about all the reviews I’ve read are very positive , I just wish you could try these things out the shops never have anything in , thanks BassAdder Stu
  19. Thanks for the reply Bolo appreciate that Stu
  20. Thanks Casapete really appreciate your reply stu
  21. Thanks Lozz and Bolo appreciate your thoughts all useful info Bolo I had an 810 back in the early nineties with the svt all tube 350 head lovely sound but lugging those two bits around was a real hassle I often consider the svt 610 but I’ve not played through one of those best regards stu
  22. Hi Folks I’m wanting to change my rig to a one cab set up I love the Ampeg tone and was thinking of the Heritage 410hlf can they get loud without farting out ? I play in a 9 piece Ska band and there’s always a lot of sound on stage and normally pretty loud I would probably make a plinth to raise it up a bit to hopefully improve hearing it really appreciate any comments stu
  23. Thanks BassAdder really useful info and very much appreciate your comments , and agree they are gorgeous looking bits of kit Stu
  24. Thanks for the reply it sounds like a great cab , I play in a Ska / Reggae band has it got real weight and depth in the low end , the review vids I’ve watched on YouTube certainly seemed to imply it has , was thinking of getting two and running with a 2ohm compatible head possibly the Mesa subway d800+ I also have the ABM 600 evo Iv which is a lovely amp but just wanting a lighter weight rig these days , not getting any younger 😄 thanks again Stu
  25. Thanks for the reply , can they get loud without breaking up , I play in a 9 piece band and the sound on stage can often be pretty loud Stu
