  1. hi guys

Small issue involving my eb0 bass. thought i would ask if there is anything that i can do. whilst playing the E & A string have a good amount of punch and volume but the D & G string are drowned out by these and sound weak and quiet in comparison. can i adjust the screws on the pup if so how far do i adjust ?
    thanks for any help guys

  2. Hi all.
My latest bout of G.A.S led me to evil bay , and whilst browsing through the quality merchandise on offer i came across something i wish i could unsee . not wishing to give people the impression that to play and sound good it has to be beautiful looking and all sparkly new , but ugly is ugly. this was a HONDO bass that looked like it was the result of a one night stand betwwen a deformed P bass body and some kind of 80s curly haired pop rock shredder type neck . i have searched to find a link to the picture but it looks like someone actually bought it or the seller couldnt stand the shame anymore and removed it. not sure what kinda gear they were chuffing on in the HONDO design room on that particular day but whatever it was it must have been good. just for fun (and to try and rid my mind of the abhoration i saw) how about seeing anything that you have come across that is er......aesthetically challenged.
    cheers

  3. yeah it is. its still high ish on the D and G but not impossibly high. its a £40 bass so i wasnt that fussed if it went tits up or not ,but all things considered its not a bad bass . for the tone alone i am willing to let the more than shoddy build quality issues alone. one thing i will say in favour of this copy is that you could not even squeeze bacteria in the neck cavity, it was that tight that i thought the neck was actually glued as well. its as light as hell and the neck dive is atrocious but its a bash about so its ready to go on its 1000 hotels tour until it dies.

  4. Hiyall.

I do a lot of work away from home and wanted to buy a bass that i could cart from hotel to hotel without having to worry about damaging it. So i saw a cheap and cheerful P Bass copy up for sale and decided to part with £40 to get it. this is my first full length bass as i have always played short scale , so it served a double purpose as i wanted to see how i got along with long scale. the build quality of this instrument is exactly as you would expect from a £40 guitar , but the tone aint too shabby. the one problem i have is the string height , despite adjusting the bridge to as low as it could go they are still very high. it looks to have fairly light guage strings on it , would putting heavier guage on help ? or would putting a shim on the neck be a solution ? or is it that full size basses are just different in string height and i just that i need to man up a bit .
    any advice would be apreciated
    cheers

  5. i saw the epi bass with hipshot bridge ,if memory serves it was the one that the guy had sanded down on the top part. should have bought it ! will do as advised and keep trawling the for sale sections. but i think first port of call is to my local luthier to see if he can set up the bass so its at least there or there abouts. i think that would be a sensible starting point, at least i know i have a straight neck etc .
thanks so much for your sage advice fellas. i love the bass so if i have to shell out money then its worth it.

  6. hang on 3 bassists in Milton Keynes ?? there was me sure in the knowledge that i was the only bassist in the village. Thanks very much for the kind offer , i will take you up on that when work will actually let me stop at home for more than a few hours before making me up sticks across the U.K. , would be great to get a few tips / tricks and jam a little.

  7. Hi folks.

at the risk of being shot down in flames for putting a budget bass in amongst such beautiful instruments i have decided to see if anybody would be interested in my crafter which is now gathering dust. It's in good but used condition with two tiny marks (1 on front is tiny tiny, other on back is a small dent) both of which i have tried to picture pointing a pencil towards the marks, otherwise it is in good condition and plays really rather well. Was going to keep it but G.A.S is forcing me to get rid of all unused bits. may be of some use as a knockabout or project bass to someone.ideally i would prefer collection as posting something so big scares the bejeezus out of me.
    cheers

  9. Hi Everybody

Thought i'd introduce myself. My name is bob im 44 years old and i live in the land of the roundabout. I have been a guitarist (6 string) for more years than i care to remember , but only just bought my first bass a couple of months ago, i bought a cheapie because i was only going to mess about on it but have since become hooked. i have just bought my second bass its only an epiphone eb0 in pelham blue but i love it , what it lacks in sound versatility it makes up on sheer good looks . i am busy trying to get a basic set up at the moment so i can annoy the neighbours and plan to maybe tweak my epi to see if i can get a tiny bit more tone variation out of it. i have a feeling this site will be a great help to me in the months and years to come.
