I´ve DIYed the Madamp BP1 a few month ago. The kit was incomplete, with some faults in the documentation, some parts didn´t fit and the mains tranny was defective. Not that great if you´re a beginner in DIY-land (which I am not).

Just out of curiosity, what was the problem with the mains tranny?

    Thanks
    Grahame

  2. I just sold my DB680 to Juande and despite an issue due to shipping (which Juande dealt with most graciously), all went really well.

Good communications and very prompt payment.

Many thanks Juande for a pleasant transaction and I'm sure you'll enjoy the Aggie!

    Cheers
    Grahame :)

  3. Chris bought my CA9 power amp.

Even though there were issues with the amp after shipping, he remained courteous and a pleasure to deal with.

This is the second deal I've done with him and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anybody.

Many thanks Chris, enjoy the power ;)

    Cheers

  4. Next item for your delectation Ladies and Gentlemen is my Trace Twinvalve.

Rather tidy condition but has one of the slider tips missing. Other than that and a slight hissing it's a good'un.

    115 Watt from two 6550's B)

I really don't want this to go but I've far too much stuff that's not getting used......

I'm looking for £350 including UPS overnight delivery.

    Cheers
    Grahame :)

  5. Up for grabs is my SVP Pro Blackface preamp.

A little hissy with the treble up and some rackrash top and bottom but otherwise no issues and sounds the bomb.

Only selling because I must thin the herd a little (Lot!)......

I'm looking for £280 including overnight delivery with UPS.

    Cheers
    Grahame

  7. I think Barry's amp kits are an excellent way to get into valve amp building!

The first amp I built was the SE-5a kit which was the forerunner to the N5X 5W and is a cracking little amp B)

The instructions are very clear with good photo's and if you follow them to the letter you should be fine. If you should run into any problems you can always contact Barry himself for advice.

What I would say is, if you haven't already got one, lay your hands on a good multimeter and wherever possible check EVERY component before assembling to ensure you have the right part in the right place.

Making a headbox isn't too tricky and doesn't need to complex at all :)

Oh, and read the safety blurb and then read it again, big voltages floating around in these things - even the small ones!

  8. Okay this is the start of a fairly hefty clearout of stuff that just isn't getting used.

Hefty is the word here as up for grabs is my Crest CA9 power amp. It does weigh a few pounds, including Gator Pro moulded case 55 of them to be precise - that's 25kg for you whippersnappers!

Most of the weight is down to the epic power transformer which allows this beasty to effortlessly deliver massive gobs of power.
