Great suggestions! I noticed Wunjo's have a nice U.S. L-2000 in at the moment.
-
As it happens, my old Randall does have a distortion circuit (and actually a very nice one at that), so with the gain on full whack it's all a bit too face-melting for ordinary purposes.

Well, I feel like browsing, so I thought it would be nice to compile a list of the various online shops selling vintage and used basses in the UK, or indeed the EU. I'll add your suggestions to the original post. Here's the list so far, in alphabetical order:

Now there's a bass that could give you tinnitus without being plugged in. Or played.

Well, no actually not necesarilly, any chance of some detail?
Oh Christ, I really hate this one. I still don't really understand what they're trying to do. Scare people away? That's what it always does it me. I assume, though, they might be trying to give the instrument an air of exclusivity, most likely to justify the massively inflated price.
-
It is! Don't get me wrong, my favourite basses are all bolt-on, but I'd expect a £4k copy of a neck-through bass to have a neck-through construction.
-
Wait, the Lull T4 is BOLT-ON?!
-
Sadly not miles apart from what people tend to want for these. Most of them seem to be also selling the idea that the Squier JV export models are the crowning achievement of Japanese craftsmanship, when in reality there were several higher spec models made at the same time and in the same factory!

That's probably because they know the average Facebook user is probably going to post something snarky on their page if they don't answer smartish.
IMO if a company isn't prepared to use email to communicate with potential customers then they shouldn't publish an email address.

Adrian, the proprietor, handles all correspondence on his own. I can only assume he is a very busy man, and I think it's much more likely that he somehow missed your mail than willingly ignored it. -
And it seems they won't pay more than 15k for a phaser owned by Tony Levin. And neither should they.
-
If you're looking on eBay, it's always best to look for auctions, or sellers accepting offers. As a rule of thumb, the "buy it now" prices on eBay are always significantly higher than the market value. It's a bit tiring, actually.

hang on, the singer wants to do an instrumental???????????????

Could always use a pee break. -
I have a similar habit of recording a whole lot of sketchy ideas, but never writing anything down. Do you still have the individual tracks? It can be a bit frustrating if you can barely remember making it in the first place, but if you could play it then, you can play it now!
-
It certainly looks solid. There seems to be a centre seam, but the wood is rather striped so beyond that I can't hard to tell how many pieces there are. If it's light it might be basswood, although most basswood I've seen is very plain, more so than this. Where did you get the body?
-
Just off camera there's a bee farting into a tin.
-
It's definitely a stunner! I wonder how the re-branding came to be. Was it an old Mayones that didn't sell, or was it commissioned directly to be branded Fame? And why are they so reluctant to talk about it?
-
Shedua seems closer in colour. Don't know if it's ever used for solid bodies, though. How heavy is the bass?
-
I'm going to have to agree, though, something about it sounds better! I'm assuming it might be because I tend to favour 60's soul recordings over 90's soul recordings.

I think it's a clam ...It's a bad fit with the vocal and not in keeping with the spirit of the original. If it's not a wrong note and a personal choice, maybe he couldn't hear the vocal line when recording ?
If you listen to the original, it's an 'A' (Bmin7 chord) and sits much better with the vocal. As others have said, it's not wrong to play the G# (well maybe in strict scale terms it is), but in this case it don't sound so nice.
(All in my ears opinion of course).
The original (I think)

I'm gonna have to say that's also a G#. -
Actually, hearing it again, it sounds fine. Unexpected, but fine. It's not like he's playing the major 3rd. It is unusual, though.
-
That is actually very noticeable. It's low enough in the mix to not be all too jarring, though. Funny thing, psychoacoustics.
-
It's a late Roadstar model, an RB850 from 1986. That particular finish isn't represented here, but there were small variances between export and domestic models.
Feel free to ignore John McVie. -
I see what you're getting at, but this is the best channel on YouTube:

I appear to be dead.
Let's list all the vintage/used bass shops!

I'm not quite sure of what you mean, but if you mean what I think I mean, then absolutely, that's my intention.
