Try The Marcus King Band for a modern funky approach.

Been listening to Marcus a little while, came up in a youtube recommendation because I was listening to Dumpstaphunk and I'm so glad it did.

Coming to Manchester in October,  really want to go see this band. Love his style.

Viz Prince does anyone here think of him as funk? OK he did some outright funk on his earlier albums but from Purple Rain his output was too eclectic what with rockers, pop, ballads,..

I don't even know where to begin, you might find some of it bordering on rock, RnB orJazz but the funk is a core element with the purple one.

Try the following: Dear Mr. Man, Stare, Let's Work, Musicology, Sticky Like Glue, Black Sweat, Here Eye Come.

Stunning thread (opened my eyes and ears to new avenues), thank you to all, nobody's posted anything bad.

I'll just leave this here.

3. Project anyone? Brand new, never used. Link to these on the SimS site http://www.simscustom.com/pickups/4string.html

I've had them since April 2017, haven't done anything so rather than sitting in the cupboard here they are.

Will post insured only (not included), or you can pick up from the Wakefield area.

Reduced (10/08/2018) to £250

4. SSD is a ratchet purchase for sure. However, I've never been disappointed with the WD Black drive I have - spools games up faster than any other I've had, raptors included and while expensive for non-SSD, I'd definitely have another.

I'm being lazy... but here's a quick excerpt from something I'm working on. https://soundcloud.c...ixes/may-noodle

I really like that - not taking anything away from the bassline but those orchestral strings are lovely - how? Please don't say 'an orchestra' :)

I was sat the other day and just needed to jot something down before it vapourised. I have a Novation Circuit (£250 groovebox type-thing) for this purpose and decided I'd just put a simple groove down in 10 mins, bit of a rush but figured I'd stick it down and see how the bassline went by doing a couple of mins recordin. Changed the line a bit during the take (on purpose to see what fit best) but all in one go, no processing, recorded in Ableton. Hit play on the Circuit and played bass at the same time. And no, I couldn't settle on a lead line either - played that straight in afterwards in one go and on the Circuit's pads.

Mexican Jazz, rounds that are going off, that's about it. Please don't kill me....

6. Became a bit 'black' for my liking - always revolving around opression and such. I've never judged funk (or people for that matter) on colour, but the program did and I feel sorry for whoever thinks it's a colour thing.

Hope that's not too controversial but it's weird being white and being conditioned into thinking you like 'black music'. WTF?

As with the Ashdown Combo I'm selling, I won this in the competition at the London Bass Guitar Show this year. Brand new, used in publicity shot, boxed with all bits (hex keys, manual and whatnot).

I'm near the M62 / M1 / A1 in the Wakefield area. Would prefer not to ship and could meet up with some fuel money arrangement depending on how far.

One o'these:- http://ashdownmusic....160/AAA12015T-/

Key bits:
15"
120W
17kg
DI out (xlr)

Won in the LBGS2017 competition bundle. Brand new, unboxed for purpose of publicity shot at Future Publishing offices and now sitting here. I did plug it in, play for about 2 minutes at low vol to make sure it's all working and then put it all back.

I'm quite close to the M1 / M62 / A1 in the Wakefield area. Could meet part way or you could pay for shipping.

The Aria IGB Rosie bass is also for sale.

9. Well folks, I gone and done it (dropped in at a mates and went out on way back, got in at half 2 so it's taken me 'til now). Lovely people from Future (note they are actually from the present) gave me the swag after asking me to pose with the bass and to put one foot on the combo. I say again...one foot on the combo. I saw my big daft grin on Photoshop before I left and it tells a story of a deer caught in the headlights. A deer holding an Aria IGB Rosie Bass Guitar and ONE FOOT ON THE COMBO.

Be gentle.

ped - I was all up for flogging the pups but after speaking to the chap at Future I'm looking at the Cort - spalted maple or not, could get it!

10. And all for free! :o
I won the London Bass Guitar Show bundle and today's the day I go pick it all up. Nearing half a century belonging to the "I never win owt" club, I finally won summat.

They want a photo - do I A) grin or B) pull a face? (this is a non-binding question I might add!)

11.
There are far worse perpetrators to be found. Some of our most-read news sources being prime culprits.
Agreed - Reuters sticking ads in amongst the news stories although I heard recently that there's going to be a clampdown though how that's policed is anyone's guess.

I find all this fascinating - as one of the older net users, I've seen quite a bit from the early days of bulletin boards and now I'm almost sidelined even though I'm still in the industry. Moves too fast, I keep up for the things I have to (html / css / photoshop) but I'll never be a snapchatter. And when I say that, I know snapchat will be seen as yesterday's chip paper to the yoof. Hell I don't even do Facebook.

I too think the 'clickbait' thing isn't clickbait (and I guess the OP covers that by using quotes). When bulk email goes out, clever companies run AB testing on subject lines to see which ones are the most opened. Scott's SEO bod is just writing subject lines with a hook.
