1. Fender Rumble 200 V3 Combo - £200

I've recently upgraded my rig so am selling my Fender Combo. I have had the amp nearly 3 years but rarely used it this last year, with the amp just sitting in my uni room the majority of the time.

The versatile nature of there amp has made its perfect for both functions gigs and gigs with my pop punk band, and I have never needed to push the amp hard, even without PA support.

The amp is in good condition for it's age, with a couple of little dents on one of the back edges, and some scratches and paint smudges on the back. A small part of the F on the Fender logo has also snapped off. This has now been replaced by a new logo (thanks to Discreet). I'd say about 7.5-8/10 however all of the marks are cosmetic and the amp functions perfectly.

Collection from Nottingham but I'll be going back to uni in September so collection from Leeds is possible if you're willing to wait.

    Cheers,

    Chris

  2. Korg PitchBlack Pro Rackmount Tuner

I've had this tuner for a couple of years now, but have only used it once , the rest of the time it has just been in it's box, as I don't use a rack system. It's in nearly new condition, the only marks are on the bottom from where I didn't put it away quite right and the rack ears were rubbing - These can be seen in the photos.

It comes in the original box and is complete with rack ears, screws, and the original power supply.

I'm based in Nottingham but regularly travel to Leeds, but I'm also happy to post within the UK for a few extra pounds!

Any questions feel free to ask!

    Cheers,

    Chris

  3. Been working with Roman for a couple of weeks and can say that I'd happily recommend his work! We've been working on a solo bass composition which I recorded at home, then sent over to Roman for all the production work. The first file I sent wasn't up to standard, so Roman advised me how to improve, both in terms of my playing, and also in terms of how to setup my equipment - I'm a complete novice with recording and he was very patient with me despite this! Roman worked on the recording and sent it across so we could discuss what to do to improve it. He explained everything that had been done to the piece as well as listen to my opinions to get a f I shed recording that we are both pleased with. I would be very happy to work with Roman again in the future, and can't recommend his work enough!

  4. The cab in the picture looks more like a 112MNT to me, as the centre of the driver is smaller than that of the EXT. Either way, good luck with the sale!

EDIT: The metal plate on the back should have all the information, and sorry if I'm wrong and have caused confusion!

  5. There's a very brief review in Bass guitar magazine from a few months back which said that the sound is great, but the amp is a bit pricey for what you get, but at the end of the day it's all hand built by Mark, so it's not gonna be cheap! I played it briefly at LBGS and the sound is super clear and there's more power than anyone could ever need, and then some! The frequency range for the EQ is the same as the Aurora which people seem to love so that's another positive.

There's not a great deal of info on these but this is the stuff I've picked up, hope it's helpful!

Hi all - thanks for the information - unfortunately Status don't offer left-handed necks (according to their website) so I'm stuck with Moses if I want to go down the graphite route.

However, I'm now wary of spending the wrong end of £300 with an outfit in Oregon - bit of a stretch to return it if it's 'duff'!!

As Fender UK seem to have stopped doing left handed replacement USA necks (or any left handed necks for that matter) - and no US companies will ship anything, new or used, with a rosewood board, its back to trawling the web/Ebay or getting a maple/maple from dear old Warmoth (and waiting months!) or 'doing a Hendrix' and sticking a righty on it.

But thanks again for all the comments - Basschat is a fantastic resource.

If you're happy with a wooden neck contact Jon Shuker. He built me a fretless neck just before Christmas for less than the price of a replacement fender. Plus you can have it spec'd however you want!

  7. I had Jon Shuker build me a fretless neck for a Squier. It's just a simple maple neck with rosewood board, but the carbon super rods and custom dimensions make it far better than a Mexican fender neck, for the price.

He's also re-radiused basses before, so it might be worth getting a quote for that.

  8. Ah, it probably would have been better if I had remembered to post the link in my previous post, it may have helped a bit!

That's what I was trying to show you, just the larger cutout, similar to Scott Devine's Overwater in a way.

Also, I'm not sure if this as been said, but make sure you get on with the Luthier on a personal level. It'd be a long tiresome project if you were had a clashing personality with the person building your bass, and also the finished product probably wouldn't be perfect for you.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Stingray based instrument with a smoother/more accessible neck-body joint (a la Scott's Precision) and a smoother more rounded sound and switchable actives. Kind of modern active P-J meets a 1990s Stingray neck profile and body dimensions and a nice translucent finish. Not complicated or super exotic, but not available off the shelf either. Need to sell my Jazz Fretless first though!

Take a look here for some examples of Jon's p basses. Some of them sound quite similar to what you are describing, so it may be worth a look -The white one near the bottom in particular. It would also be worth talking to a few of the luthiers to see what they can do with the idea. Good luck with the Jazz bass, hopefully it'll sell fast, after all, everyone needs a fretless Jazz bass!

  10. According to their website, a standard J series Overwater starts at 2 grand, so I'd assume a p bass would be similar. If fancy electronics and quiet pickups are your thing, then you can't beat Overwater, but if you are looking for a very well built p bass, I recommend Jon Shuker, just from my experiences. Being honest though, no matter who you choose from the suggested names, you're guaranteed a very high quality product, and very good service.

  11. It's a little delayed but I thought I'd share my latest acquisition. It's a Squier Affinity Jazz bass with a custom Shuker neck, and is also my first go at a fretless. It's safe to say I love it, and I'm definitely enjoying the flexibility of no frets!

So the backstory is that I've been wanting to try fretless for a while, but couldn't justify buying another bass, especially as I had my first Squier that no longer got used. I contacted Jon having spent a while with one of his J basses, then 2 months later, I had this in my hands, all in time for Christmas?

    Here are the specs...

Maple neck - shaped to match my P bass
    Rosewood board
    Edge lines
    Schaller tuners
    Strung with D'Addario Chromes

I've already got plans to upgrade the bass further by swapping out the electronics, fitting DiMarzio Model J's, and maybe swap the pick guard for a black one. I'll keep this thread updated with any modifications!

All the photos were taken by Jon, as they are better than anything I could take!

    Lovely

Reminds me of Matt Sharp's jazz. Very nice indeed!

  13. I'd send an email over to Jon Shuker to get a quote. I've got one of his basses and the work is exceptional, and the prices are very good, so much so that I'm planning on getting him to build a fretless neck. He'll also be able to do whatever sort of routing you want, so you'll be able to get their perfect body.

Yup. they have a universal power supply... But then a look at the mesa web site would have told you that :-)
That would've been a good idea! I can't help but get drawn to all the pictures on their site, so I'll blame it on that. Looks like I can save myself a little bit of money then, so that's always good! Thanks very much!

  15. I have a quick question about the D800 as I'm really interested in getting one, but the prices over here do seem a lot. I have the chance to buy one in America and then bring it back but obviously with the different voltages of mains power, I may not be able to use it in England? I know that some companies use variable power supplies etc, so all that needs replacing is the fuse, but I have no idea if the D800 works like this.

In short, is it possible to use an American bought D800 in the UK?

    Thanks!
