Realised I've over priced this based on what I paid for it so I've updated the advert to reflect.

Great! I've sent you a PM.

Here's a Northwest Guitars P Bass Neck in a vintage tinted gloss finish. It was briefly fitted to a parts build but has never really been used as I have P basses!
It's an earlier model with the Fender headstock shape and is fitted with a Sandberg style string retainer. It's also drilled for Hipshot Ultralites currently.
It's in very good condition, there is one tiny dent on the top side of the neck between the 13th and 14th frets, and a tiny bit of finish has been taken off either edge where a previous owner has done some fretwork.
Happy to post the neck at an additional cost, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask!

I hope this is okay to post here, as I'm looking for someone who could help me out with cutting the neck support for a guitar rack. I unfortunately don't have the tools or skills needed to do this neatly.
I'm essentially wanting the drawing below cut out of 15mm plywood. More than happy to pay for your time and expertise as well!
If any one is able to help let me know and I'll drop you a PM to discuss it all further.

A very nice work you have done there! Is the body heavy as mohogany bodies?
Thankyou! The body is quite light, I don't have particularly accurate scales but the bass seems to weigh around 3.6-3.7kg

Open to offers or parting out
A bit of an experimental idea I had for a P Bass as I find myself almost always using the volume on full, and leaving the tone control about halfway. Therefore I decided to put together a p Bass just with an on-off switch and a trim pot for the tone, accessible through the back of the bass. It works well, and plays nicely, but I've found myself with four black p basses and I can't justifying having all of them!
Specs
Northwest Guitars Neck - Gloss finish
Red Meranti body bought off eBay (stained and oiled)
Hipshot licensed ultra lite tuners
Northern Pickups modern P Bass pickup
KiOgon solderless loom
I did the finish myself, which was a first, so it is a long way from a professional finish with too many imperfections to count. It's also a very soft body so it does have a few small dents. I've tried to photograph the main ones but please ask if you'd like more photos.
As said above the bass plays very nicely and really is a player's instrument so hopefully someone will buy it to do just that!

Recently bought some new pedals and no longer have a use for this one. A nice vintage sounding overdrive, with an additional preamp mode which creates a nice tube style warmth. Bought a few years ago but used sparingly, so it's still in very good condition. Velcro on the bottom but happy to remove this if the buyer prefers. I don't have the original box but will pack it well for shipping.

I've slowly accumulated some parts that I now have no need for so here they are for sale. Prices don't include postage, and if you want to buy multiple items, I'll obviously post them together to save on costs.
P Bass Pickguards - £10 each
1989 Korean Made Squier
Good condition considering the age, with the usual scratches
Generic White Pickguard
Bought off eBay, still with the protective film on the front. Not sure if the exact fitment but it matches relatively well to my Mexican P Bass
Anodised Aluminium Pickguard
Bought off Amazon for around £20 and never used. A few scratches by the control holes, but to have to look for them. Also has some Sharpie lines on the back around he pickup cutout. Again a close fit to my Mexican P Bass
Control Knobs - £2.50 each
2 push fit knobs from 1989 Squier P Bass. Heavy and surprisingly good quality, a definite upgrade from modern equivalents
String Retainer £2
Silver string retainer from 1989 Squier P Bass. Could do with a clean, but again higher quality than you might expect
Pickups - £10
Generic P Bass pickup, I believe from a Bass Collection bass. Bought off here but never used. Can include some cream pickup covers at additional cost.

Just bought a Bassrig '64 off Dan, and it was quick, easy and the pedal arrived far quicker than I expected. Highly recommended!

Had a trip over to Pete's last week to buy a fretless P Bass, and had a really enjoyable time playing bass and chatting about music. All round great guy!

Got a 0.30 Dunlop Superbright that's left over from a 6 string pack going on a 5 string bass. Let me know if you want it!

I'm on the lookout for a chrome neck pickup cover for a 5 string jazz bass with no luck. Does anyone know if anyone is currently making/supplying them? I've tried the usual routes, Fender don't offer them anymore and second hand they're pretty scarce, so do let me know if you have any leads!

Hi there,
I'm on the looking for a template/outline of a Fender Jazz Bass V template, in order to order to get one made. It'll be going on a new body so the screw pattern isn't too important. The bass has a 20 fret neck and the usual wider fender jazz bass V pickups, so I'm thinking either an American standard or professional would fit perfectly as would the mexican equivalents. If anyone has a template with a scale reference, or could trace their own pickguard and scan it in that would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the interest! I should've deleted the ad, as what with Covid and the dreaded B word I thought it would be easier to keep hold of the bass until things are a little easier. If I change my mind at any point I will let you know!

I have a RightOn strap and have used it a lot over the past 3 years. Got mine from Bass Direct, definitely worth checking out!

Where about are you plucking the strings? I recently changed my right hand technique and initially found that I was touching the pole pieces every so often when plucking above the pickup, which was creating a clicking sound through my amp. If this is it you can solve it by either adjusting technique or just putting a piece of tape over the pole pieces.

Thanks for all the replies! I've been swaying towards the Aguilar's ad I have a freltess jazz 4 string with them, so it's good to here such positive things! I'll check out all the other brands that have been mentioned aswell!

I believe 1973 would make it the original musicmaster pickguard, so the version which doesnt hug the neck joint. WD Music make a version of this, but if you want to make your own someone may have a template!

Hi, I recently started a thread in the Repairs and Technical section looking for pickup advice but got no replies so thought I ask here where there's more traffic. Mods feel free to close or combine the threads if this is against the rules!
I'm currently in the process of having a 5 string PJ bass built, but I am yet to decide on pickups. I'm looking for something that sounds like a typical P bass, not too vintage but not too modern, as well as a humcancelling J pickup. There is going to be an East two band active circuit swell which can be bypassed. The bass is having 19mm string spacing so that will also probably limit options, but so far we have found Aguilar, Nordstrand and Delano. If there's any other options, or if anyone has experience with any of these pickup sets then let me know!
Hers the bass so far!

1978-80 Fretless Fender P Bass
in Basses For Sale
Posted · Edited by cgg199
I bought this bass off here last year, and although it's a fantastic instrument, I bought it because of my love of The Police, not my need for yet another P Bass.
I'll try to give as much info as possible, but I don't know all that much unfortunately.
The serial number dates to 1978, however the previous owner believed it could date be as late as 1980 given Fenders of the era. The finish on the back of the body isn't original, and is a strange matte finish. The front of the body could be original as it retains a nice smooth gloss, but I don't know for definite. The same goes for the neck, it appears the fingerboard has been planed down and refinished, but the headstock and back of the neck could be original. The bridge has been replaced with in the basses lifetime as well. The metal grounding plate from under the pickup is also missing and only the bridge ashtray cover is original, the pickup one is a newer reproduction. Everything else appears to be original. It also comes with a non original late 70's fender case.
The bass was setup by Jon Shuker just after I got it and is strung with Thomastik flats. It plays really nicely, and sounds exactly how a fretless P bass should.
I don't want to look into couriering the bass for now, so collection only from Leeds. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!
