  1. Agreed with the long songs being tooooo long, although I think on balance that I'd rather what they're doing now than them pumping out 4 minute 'Bring your daughter to the slaughter ' clones...!!!!
To me, they've earned the right to do what they want at this stage of their careers, the classics will always be there, hopefully always played live, and The fact that they're still around ( especially with Bruce) is a blessing for me, having grown up musically with Maiden I never would have even hoped that they'd be kicking about 30 years later!!!

  2. About half the songs grabbed me first/second play, a few on disc 2 didn't grab me immediately but that's usually not a bad thing, I find. Think I already prefer it to Final Frontier, which I found a bit patchy (by Maidens lofty standards!). So gladthe guys are still putting out quality stuff.

  3. It's not likeMaiden bury the bass sound in the mix though, is it...? I can always hear the bass quite clearly, probably because he has such a middy/toppy sound, to be honest not my favourite sound, but it works great for them, and the "sloppy" style is what makes the band sound alive. Mr Harris has done o.k for himself, I'm sure.

  4. Indeed, the more expensive ones may feel that bit nicer, and each to their own, this may be important enough, I've been tempted by the 1024 myself, but my BB414 has the sound I need in the band right now, feels pretty good to me, is rediculously easy to play with the lowest useable action I've ever had on any bass, so I really don't need an upgrade. The see through finishes do look lovely on the pricier models. If I were playing less rock music, and more pop/funk/whatever stuff, guess the others would sound more appropriate , the 414 probably is a bit 'unruly' sounding, but that's what I want!!!

  5. This video compares the three specs seamlessly.....to me the 424 sounds much better, more depth and punch, but the more expensive ones sound more refined. I play a 414 in a rock band, so refinement isn't a requirement!!!!

  6. FOR SALE, Comfort Strapp neoprene backed strap for bass guitar, this is the X Long version, in very good condition, in fact apart from a small impression left on the leather ends by my strap locks, it's perfect, you wouldn't know it's not new. Check out the reviews, many people swear that these are the most comfortable straps on the market, personally I prefer my other strap, but that's just me!! £25 delivered to you.

  7. Also, not wishing to be a git, Crez, but your set list is kind of the disco classic equivalent of a rock classic set, those songs are the disco songs that everyone knows, just as All Right Now and Sex on Fire are the rock songs everyone knows, itjust so happens that there are sooo many more rock bands than disco bands. Probably because, as quoted above, disco is harder to play, generally. ( I happen to know your band is a bit tasty...!!!!)
Where you have struck gold, IMO is that you can play your classic disco set at pretty much any sort of function and it will go down well, whereas a rock set is more limited to pubs, not too many people want to thrash away to Ace of Spades on their special day, or at the end of year function for a big company!!
