1.
Man, you have some nice basses! Is the PJ the custom shop special from 2012? - never seen one except on the Fender website. Our wateroftyne will be drooling over that one!
The black one is a Fender/Allparts/Lollar/Hipsjot one I assembled myself. The 2012 CS Precision Pro is the one I want to get hold of...wish I owned it already! That way I wouldn't have to get rid of the cs 64 Jazz! Thanks to the rest of you for your kind words!
2. Hi, everyone! If I had not this too… …and I had not been stung by this… …I wouldn’t even be thinking of selling this: Custom Shop 1964 Fender Jazz Bass NOS Sonic Blue: …you might like it better this way… …or rather… ...the case is that... The bass is located in Spain. Have only sold an amp head here, but you can check for extra feedback in bass forums (Bajistas.org / nick malpasso) in Spain, or Ebay (nickname: cherterfield2) Thanks!!
3. Sold at Bajistas.Org! Thank you everybody!!
4. Hi! Up for sale is my Godin A4 Fretless. It’s a very nice electro-acoustic bass used by pros like Esperanza spalding, to name the first one that comes to mind. Condition is 9.8 sobre 10, with a couple of slight marks of use. It mounts Tomastik Infeld Jazz Flat strings in excellent playing condition, no fretboard wear, LR. Baggs piezo system, three band EQ+ volumen, low action and original Godin case which shows a couple of bumps but is in really good, shape. I bought this one out of curiosity at a tremendous price from it’s previous owner. I’m selling it as it fills no niche in my arsenal among my electric fretless, acoustic bass and double bass. Some pics taken on Jan, 3rd, 2013: I’m seeking a selling price of 650 Eur, including shipping in the UE and Paypal fees. The bass is located in Spain. Thanks!!
5. Hi!! Up for sale is a set of Nordstrand NJ5F, a jazz Bass replacement for Fender five string basses. I got them really cheap, but they won’t fit my Windmill custom fiver. So they are brand new, never installed. Measures are: Neck pickup: 101,5 mm x 18,5 mm. Bridge pickup: 104,5 mm x 18,5 mm Price: 125 Eur ,includes original package, covers, shipping in Europe and paypal fees. Please notice that pickups are in Spain. One pic: Manufacturer’s info: NJ5F Single coil 5 string jazz-type bass pickups These are Fender Jazz 5® replacement pickups. They will fit into your existing covers and make your 5 string come to life. They are based on the same formula that makes my NJ4 pickups sound so good: Alnico V magnets and Heavy Formvar 42 gauge wire wound in a simulated hand pattern. They have a nice growly bridge pickup tone, a big full neck pickup tone and a huge deep earth shaking tone with both pickups on. They will definitely make your bass sound better! Thanks!!!
6.
neck dive? er.......no neck dive to report on my Mk 1
Ooops! Then I must have made a false assumption, mislead by the change in design found in subsequent designs !!
7.
Well done! sounds cool. but.........it won't have that certain bass, 'mojo'........... coming from a an owner of a commissioned Wal Mk1 so consider me biased.
...HA, ha, ha....!!! ...Well, there goes a good one!!!! Thanks, Lefty, lucky you to get hold of a real one!!!
8.
Lovely!! I actually prefer the shape over a real Wal, which I've always found to be a bit ugly... Lovely tone too! Well done
Thanks to everybody!!! Conan: It's funny that you mention those aesthetic issues with Wall basses. Actually, the only model that rocks my boat as regards looks is the MKi. I guess it was because of neck-dive problems that they decided to make Mkii and Mkiii longer in the upper horn. They may be more ergonomical, but that breaks the harmony of the original design IMHO!!
9.
Great work. How long did it take?
I decided to do it three months ago. Selecting the components took its time. The painstaking thing comes with collecting all the different parts from different sources. Once you have it all, the most time-consuming task is finishing: takes just a week if you find tha right oil-based finish product (Liberon finishing oil in my case). Of couse I'm not a pro, I did it in free moments.
10. (Things that can happen to you when you wish a fretless MK1 fretless WAL bass so hard!) Dear Basschatters! What can you do when you rave to grab a WAL MK1 fretless bass and you haven’t got the 3200 Eur requested for a pre-owned one? I made myself this question about three months ago and this is what I came up with: Buy yourself these components: Warmoth Precision body, mahogany core with flamed walnut top. Contoured heel option, rear routed for electronics, unfinished. Buy yourself a jazz Bass maple neck, ebony fretboard and paddle headstock, unfinished, have a Black Tusk Graph Tech nut installed to it. 4 knob, two switches, east U-retro Deluxe, three band EQ, sweepable mids, passive tone control. Black finish, like the rest of hardware. 2 GFS MM Pro pickups. Babicz Full contact bridge. Warmoth 4 bolt neck plate. Warwick capsule Gotoh-style tuners, ridiculously cheap, but featured on 3200 Eur basses (good enough for me!). Screws, strap buttons, pickup mounting foam, aluminum shielding foil… …You’ll heve spent some 1000 Eur counting odds and ends in. Knock off a WAL headstock design from pics in the net. Scale to your neck dimensions y and take it to a trusty carpenter to have it cut with a band-saw according to your design. Spend three hours of your time sanding it with fine grit sandpaper, until your fingertips cannot feel any irregularity on the headstock rim. Mark the tuner shaft holes and get back to your carpenter to have the holes press-drilled. Sand the neck and body thoroughly. Oil finish 4 coats for the neck, keep pore open, wait 24 hours and use steel wool in between layers. Follow suit with 6 coats for the body. Drill the holes on the body, where the preamp knobs and switches will be mounted. Cover the control cavity with the shielding foil, do the same to pickup tubs and under-the-bridge grounding cable location for perfect electrostatic isolation. Change the U-Retro jack socket for a switchcraft deep-panel one (this ruotong type should be specified when ordering body from Warmoth). Install the preamp, screw, solder, fix the rest of hardware, roll the fretboard edges, string, adjust, intonate… At the end of the process you should be getting something similar to this: You may hang it on next and discover there it is lighter that you expected, the neck does not dive at all and it is extremely comfortable and fast. Next you could plug it in, you might find it dead silent (in the good way) and like the sound (when played) so much that you could find yourself compelled to record a sound sample like this one: …maybe you’ll arrive at the conclussion that there is a couple of loose ends: You may want to find a name for the bass, and choose Karn Bass as a homage to Mick Karn, from Japán, who passed away last year and whom you always admired. You might think of having a vynil logo made for the headstock. You will probably buy a string retainer to do away from some undesired tensión on the nut that could be caused by the second and third strings. Eventually you could want to share your satisfaction with your fórum fellows and start a thread like this one. Thanks for reading, forgive my elaboration…I’m soooooooo veru happy!
11. "Creamy" wants me to thank all members for their kind compliments! Special regards to JSixties for chiming in...there's a crack!
12. Hi, everybody! GAS attacks and up for grabs comes my most valuable bass at the moment: It’s an original 1978 or 79 Fender Jazz Bass . I can’t precise the year as serial number ( S8850786) can belong to any of those. Pots and pickups seem to be 78’s. Excellent condition, improper of the instrument’s age (has been well played): Just tiny dings on neck (only touch-detectable), slight scuffing and decolouring on the top of hedastock and a small crack on the binding. See pic taken before frets were polished. Specs: Ash body, originally in natural finish, professionally refinished to poly Vintage White (immaculate) at MB Guitars (Madrid) .They also fixed the “era correct” neck/pocket slot. Has got a faded yellowish faded tint that pics have not grasped. Maple neck, blocks and binding. Three bolt neck attachment with Micro-Tilt system. Everything original except: Professional refretting work by luthier Tino Acebal (Gijón) 18 months ago. Frets polished by same luthier two months ago. Neck pickup hand rewound (by Jess Louriro). (it had died) Capacitor (same as pickup) Mint green pickguard with 60’s screw pattern to go with the new finish. I also provide the original, one with matching serial number. Pickup, pickguard and strap buttons screws, as well as cloth pickup cables, (cloth was corroded from age) Axe weights 4.7 Kgr. Some pics: Apart from the extra pickguard, I’ll throw in Fender replacement pickguard ashtrays and thumbrest. Will ship in a Protect Contego regid light case. seeking TRADED buyers from locations other than UK, please ask me for a shipping quote. I’ve just sold one amp head in this forum (check feedback), but I can provide you with feedback from Ebay or Bajistas.org, the Spanish equivalent to Talkbass. (twelve basses, amps, parts, pedals accessories…sold there) Thanks!
