1. Just with regards to people commenting on price etc. surely that's what a forum is for. Otherwise this would just be a classified ads section! Just as people are entitled to say - 'great bass - I'd buy it' they are entitled to comment on price, surely?

With regards to the price of this it think €1590 is a great price - it's just that the £ is so c**p in the exchange rate is the problem. A year ago this would have been a steal! You can't expect people outside the UK to drop their prices just because certain politicians here can't run the country (sorry - getting far too political now!)

Anyway best of luck. If I had the money in the bank I would buy it now! It's better than the £2300 for a new one!

I'll just have to wait for the pound to regain some value! Should only be a couple of decades (sorry again - old habits)

PS if anyone wants to sell their 5-string stage II for £700 I'll take it! :)

  2.
Righty ho!

I have here a HA4000, now....the reason I have it listed as cheap or offers is this: I can't figure out why the damn thing decides to cut out half way through a gig and other times sounds great! Not being an amp fiddler, I can't be arsed with it, I'm sure it's something stupid but I have no patience. The amp itself is cosmetically in good condition, all controls are smooth and working, jack inputs are sound etc. The case is in good condition usual wear, nothing bad, the latches work fine.

So, I thought perhaps there might be an amp fiddler who'd be into having this to make reliable again. I dunno, maybe swap it for something stupid or make a silly offer....just for the record, last year 48 hr postage, £150 compensation and tracked was £22.99....so If you take care of postage I won't be expecting much in the way of cash :)
I'll give you £40 plus the £23 for postage. Even if I can't fix it it'll be handy for parts.

    Cheers,

    Stu.

  3.
Gav at GM has not been trading for a while, not sure why but there is rumour aplenty...
The last I saw of GM Audio (and Gav) was when I went to Maldon to collect a bit of kit only to find a sign on the door saying that due to his ongoing illness they had would be closing the place down, and if you had kit there to call a number.

If anyone knows what happend to him , and if he's ok I'd be grateful if you'd let me know.

  4. I'd be interested in a swap. Are you after any Trace Elliot gear? As you can see I have a few amps and could afford to lose some for a bass like this.

If not what would you want for cash?

    Cheers,

    Stu.

  5. The AH350SMX, AH400SMX and AH600SMX heads are just basically a rack mounted version in a 3U mounting, fixed by 4 screws in the top 2U, and another 2 longer ones which go through the UV light section. You don't need rack ears as they're already there. There are no side or top screws to worry about either.

When I recovered my AH350SMX I rack mounted it whilst it was out of the casing. Give me a shout if you need more info.

  6. I sold a empty combo unit a few months ago. It was for a Trace Elliot 4x10 combo and I was hoping to get about £50 for it. Ended up with £10.50! And I undercooked the postage on it. So by the time I'd wrapped it and sent it I was left with about £3.

Maybe selling it as firewood would have been better - but then again it's Trace, so I'd never do that!

    Best of luck hookey!

  7. I've owned a fair bit of Trace gear, and find that the early amps, particularly MkV and Series 6 hit their maximum power output at about volume 3 (if you have the gain around 7 or 8). If you hook the output onto a oscilloscope you see that once it hits this limit the increase in the volume control simply begins to clip the output signal - it still remains at the same level.

Remember as well the MkVs has the Mitsubishi MOSFETs - far superior to most output stages around nowadays! They stopped making them around 1992, and Trace were forced in the Bi-polar Bear boards.

If you really want to know the power output of the amp take it apart and check the power board. Almost all Traces have a sticker on them with the power output.

    Hope that helps!
