Cream!
Because of the maple fretboard.

I always bring two identical basses.
On gigs both are plugged in via an A/B box.
They have never failed me, but I use padded straps and sweat a lot!
So its nice to swap basses when one strap is all damp. 😁

For me its simple:
Rick Springfield's Tao album.
I was so heavily into RS that I still listened almost daily to his Human Touch-album from 83.

Ever since seeing Chris Glenn with one in the 80s, I’ve often wondered if I should try one.
Saw him live with MSG.
Into the Arena bass solo with his 3-pickup explorer. I wanted an explorer since that day!

Digging this back up, I have an interest in getting a bongo done as a flip flop colour, so I asked someone local and for a complete head to toe flip flop of the coloured parts (not the fingerboard as above!) its £450. I was wondering if that would seem like a normal ballpark figure for these sort of things.
Currently wondering if it is worth it for me!
You might wanna talk to a sign-shop or car wrap place.
There are some nice flip vinyls.I'm a signmaker and have done it to guitars and basses, for myself and customers.
To do just the front of the bass would be much cheaper (here in Sweden anyways)
And its totally reversible if you find you don't like it or want to sell it in the future.

I have seven Vantage VP-710B's with two identical pairs.
I started with one, then a spare for it, then one for BEAD, then a spare for that.
Then I found one in better shape, and then one in even better shape!
And one to donate spare parts.
I know most won't understand, but what can i say... I'm obsessed with them 🤣

Love that!
When you say cheap… How much and where from?
The Mockingbird was like 320 euros from some Alibaba site. Big Johns or some other strange name 😄
Playable but not really enjoyable.
The explorer is this kit:

I keep seeing these for sale but the prices range from about £100 to several hundreds so I'm never sure what a fair price is.
Neck thru 70s Matsumotu basses were amazing - good buy sir!!
They are actually set-neck.
I have paid between about €80 and €260 for mine, but seen them for sale for up to €800.

Don’t know anything about these basses, but why have 6 when you can have 7?
Supply and demand.
I demand more than is supplied 😎

It was fun!
Played outdoors at a camping site where the guitarist has a caravan permanently parked.
We played as a favour to the guitarist and site owner.
Singer started with five songs as a trubadur, and then we played 2 x 6 songs.
After 3 encores we passed a bucket and made roughly half of a pub-gig 😃💰
I know shorts are sometimes frowned upon, but I played in cargo-shorts and bare feet! 🤣

That's a gorgeous collection!
I had a few vantages (VS600B, VS696B, VP795B), loved them all to a certain extent, but in the end only the VP710B stayed.
I'm having some issues with it however, the bridge pickup is suddenly very quiet (hadn't played it for ages).
Would you by any chance have a wiring diagram you're willing to share?
Sorry, but i have never seen a diagram of a Vantage.
I imagine that it is very similar to the wiring of a les paul, since they have the same pickups/controls/switch setup.

I tried a few and now I use Song Book Pro.
It's pretty cheap, around $7, and has some nice features while still easy to use.
We have Android and iOs-users in my bands and it works on both.
