practice practice practice. just play it slow then build up the speed. Its quite easy when u get the hang of it. I used to play it when i started playing.
[edit] and i used to play it off the d string. -
+1 for the OC2. i love the ehx stuff. i dont find it kills my signal to bad. Good luck tracking down a russian big muff. they're quite hard to get hold of in this country due to the box being made out of lead. Theres a guy i know that has one in bideford that has one on display. But he refuses to sell it.

i love this band. alot of the flute they use always reminds me of the Jazz flute scene in anchorman. tis awesome

I was browsing youtube yesterday when i came across this video. Some of you may have seen it. I thought its was pretty interesting and its something im going to include in my practicing. Its a video with Victor Wooten and Anthony Wellington. Its filmed at Anthonys bass school (bassology). Its basically as the title says, instead of modes of the scale its modes of rhythm.

i'de like to see the bit after this video. It goes into a nice groove at the end. I love some of the smv stuff, like thunder but I didn't really enjoy this video to much. The start and the end were good but i found the middle a bit hard to listen to. Particularly as BottomEndian said between 2.10 and 2.30.

That sounds awesome. Ide love to hear that. -
Recently i joined a function band which play quite a few current pop songs. I've spend pretty much all my gigging life playing rock music but i must say i'm actually enjoying playing more cheesy repetitive pop music quite a bit more.
great feel, maybe look at different finger positions in the verse, i can play it all in 4 frets except for going down to the F at the end. Could make it easier and the timing will improve because of it
Cool i with have a go. its weird when i learnt this song i thought the runs would be the hard parts. but i found the actual main bass part the hardest. -
Im loving some of Paul Turners bass lines on the new Jamiroquai album, particularly "she's a fast persuader".

i found that rockschool were fairly good. I've done up to grade 6. But i found a couple of areas of the rockschool corse a bit weird. One was the way they tabbed the scales and arpeggios. They seemed to do the fingering for a normal one octave then for the second octave of the exercise they just wrote it as just using the g string. Also I thought it was weird that they gave me a good mark for my reading when i didn't even scrape through a single bar.

Hi hows everyone doing?
Ive got an ebow for sale which i bought a couple years ago for a project. I no longer need it and cant see myself needing it in the future so i decided its time for it to move on. It gives some really cool cello like sounds on the bass and i highly recommend them if you like making interesting noises on the bass. Its like new and comes with the box and cassette.
I would like £35 for this and i will cover the postage in that price.
Cheers

So i did my audition. I was early and accidently walked in to them with another bassist. Oops. Anyway to cut a long story short, i got in!!! Im dead chuffed. Ive got a few songs to learn now. Like Cee Lo Greens new song f*ck you and car wash by rose royce. Also theres a britney spears one :s. Ive also got to learn 'The way you make me feel' by mj, but listening to the recording i cant seem to single out what the basslines doing. Any ideas??

You can get a nice clean/sharp slap tone out of this. You can also get a deep more thumpy tone to. The bart mk1 preamp on this bass is excellent and allows your to dial in a vast array of tones. I have a thumb bass and ide bass its rivals the tone of the thumb.
£350 for a Lakland Skyline? I don't know much about Laklands, but that sounds like a bloody bargain.
Yeh its a good price. Its in very good condition to. Its just sitting in my bedroom in the case begging to be played. -
ive got the lakland branded levy's soft case. Theres a little mark on the top of the headstock but other then that its clean. Theres no digs to my knowledge.
Moving from Rock...

I've recently gone from playing rock music to pop/hip hop/soul etc. And i can say that its the best move i've made so far in my bass playing life. I feel rock music isn't as challenging anymore, and other genres like pop etc are much more fun to play (however cheesey). And you tend to get better audiences playing more popular tunes. My favorite tune i play in my band atm is Material Girl by Madonna. Which this time last year ide have been embarrassed to play but now i've realized how fun that song is to play. Its also made me a better player too. I recommend to everyone to make the same move!
