No speakon-out, only one 1/4" jack which struck me as a brave decision these days.

I guess they wanted to stick to the small form factor. A speakon out is bigger than a jack out.
John Fera (the NAMM sales rep.) should go into politics, describing the new offerings as "a whole new range"... -

The Spectracomp 'is' a toneprint.

And a TC compressor pedal... -
one TH350, two NY804's

Hook up two 8 ohm cabs (resulting in a 4 ohm total load) instead of a single 4 ohm cab, that will put a smile on your face.

IIRC the older Warwick bodies were cut into three pieces, two side pieces and a center piece. The center piece had its back half removed, onto which the neck was glued. Then the two separately shaped sides were glued back on the neck+centerpiece. Result: a neck thru construction that's hidden from the front.

Very nice bass, great colour. Weird choice of pickguard material by Lakland IMO. Clear acrylic on a bass with a highly figured top, OK I get that. If it were mine I would put a tort pickguard on it. I have a DJ4 in LPB. I installed the excellent DJ-Retro preamp and use DR FatBeams strings. Sounds and plays like a dream. DJ's are great!

Cheap Chinese Crap. Avoid it like the plague.
WTF is a Les Paul pickguard and rear cover doing there? Unless EBMM are introducing a LP style guitar at NAMM, AFAIK they do not make LP style guitars. Besides, Bongo basses have a basswood body, not mahogany. -

... so I could have gone down ahead of her and grabbed it.

IMO you would no longer qualify as a friend... -
I've always found the choice in strings for short scale basses is very limited.

Well, there's one bonus for so many confusingly named ranges of varying quality basses! Fantastic.

Imagine finding a full fat EBMM Sterling for a SBMM price... One can always hope. -
Didn't Trace Elliot have a 4x15" at some point?
-
Sterling 4H inside (compensated) nut to front of pickup 74.8mm (to rear of pickup 79.7mm). All measurements +/- 1mm.

And it's a fairly new one too. Note the bear icon on the back of the headstock. This must mean there's a demand for them, albeit lower than for Stingrays. -

I imagine it is more the guitar side as they have some fantastic new high quality guitars out.

Right on! Have you seen the St. Vincent model? Wow, just wow! -

Not so loud! Green with envy Trace Elliot users may be listening in... -
Bloody hell! That's a lot of money... I suspect the law of diminishing returns rears its ugly head.

If the Glockenklang preamp is anything like their bass amps (like a wire with gain) it may be lacking grit and grunt. Can you run the bass passive into an outboard preamp of some sorts?

... so changed back to rounds.

What kind of RW strings? Mine is strung with MM's default Slinky's ATM. Planning on trying DR Fat Beams on it. -

GAK have a natural one in stock now at a really low price compared to normal
Wow what a beaut! Price is a no-brainer, I see them going for much more when new. I love mine. The neck is great but not as sleek as the neck on my Lakland DJ4. The Sterling is a bit fatter back to front, the oil finish feels silky. -
Since the neck is made of wood (I presume) it will always exhibit some movement. Changes in temperature and humidity will cause a neck to move somewhat. It is not uncommon to have to adjust the neck a bit with the changing of the seasons.

check neck relief. neck too straight perhaps.

There's no substitute for the real thing. Get both!

There was an early 80's Trace cab, which had a 12"/15"/18" in a column..but no idea if it had a name - think it was from the Soundwave PA days.

This might the one... -
I have this memory of a monster of a Trace Elliot cabinet that was made up from four different speaker sizes (10/12/15/18 perhaps) all stacked up on top of eachother. Did it really exist or am I losing it? If it did exist, who owned one and how did it sound? Pics?
