1.5mm? That must be like playing with a brick!
Can't speak for tortex picks but I find there's (for me anyway) exactly the right amount of "give" in the 1.5mm Dunlop nylon.

PLEASE SHARE EVERYWHERE! STOLEN!! Our tour bus was stolen last night from #Rothwell in South #Leeds. All band equipment, guitars, amps, cabs, desk, backdrop etc. have gone too, so if you see a white Mercedes Sprinter reg YH65 UDN (or a 190 kg mirrored backdrop in a black flightcase) please call the police immediately. We will do out best to salvage the shows this week, and hopefully with your help we may find what's been stolen. Wayne, Greg, Aid, and James x
This was just shared to my facebook page - let's hope you BCers can spread the news and maybe help them recover stuff

A cheap way to try is to buy the Legacy brand sold by Strings Direct. They are re-badged Rotosounds but nearly half the price
Yup, that's what goes on my basses.
In fact, I ordered three sets recently (Legacy 40 60 80 100) and was delivered Roto Bass packaged strings at Legacy prices.

I`ve actually been asked - when I was in a covers band - at half-time if I went to see the band much as the guy asking thought they were great. I found it very amusing.
Very similar experience for me too (back in the day).
Chatting, all four of us, to punters immediately after we'd finished one lady says to me, "Have you seen them before?"
I said I'd never seen them.

Only just found my way back to the Noodle Bar after quite a protracted absence!
I’ve enjoyed catching up with everyone’s contributions – keep them coming (even if they’re infrequent).
Nearly dislocated my neck funking out to Skol’s December noodle and found myself glidding away to Fleabag’s noodling with a gitwrist and Adrenalinn 2.
I’ll see if I can add something to the noodle bar in due course..............

Known Spen for years. Didn't know he was playing with Icefire
He's moved on to pastures new - drumming for Chemikill now.
Nice bloke, I really enjoyed playing alongside him. I thought we made an excellent rhythm section (not in a big headed way - we just gelled really well).

Tried tuning one of my basses CGDA once.
Threw my fingering and shaping out (naturally), felt weird - didn't persevere.Explains why Double Basses are tuned in 4ths though - one hell of a reach otherwise!

How about an “acoustic” bass and a small but good combo at a suitably subdued volume?
Or is it actual number of musicians that’s the issue?
Or both?
Or just plain plugged in phobia?
Just a thought......

First song in our set (of originals) opening for a Deep Purple tribute.

Occasional semitone but a full tone is too much like hard work and that's with my trusty Precision strung with 40,60,80,100 rounds....

I'd be surprised if the head could only do 8 ohms.
I think that amp will do the normal thing and go down to 4 ohms or 2 8 ohm cabs.
+1 ................. although be careful of dropping below 4 ohms
-
Er, wouldn't 4 x 8 ohms in parallel knock the overall impedance down to 2 ohms?
8 ohms+8 ohms in series would be 16 ohms, so (2 x 8 ohm cabs in series =16 ohms) in parallel with (2 x 8 ohm cabs in series =16 ohms ) gives you 8 ohms.
Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.
