So, just rescuing the thread - who has played MIJ and JMJ and can accurately compare the two?

Sorry to hear that - I hope it's fixable.
I have a Vista musicmaster for sale on eBay at the moment, a little more expensive, but original, and it's been nicely set up and the frets dressed.
Sensible offers considered, I need to try and make my money back.....

Gretsch totally trounces the jag, but make sure to avoid the single pickup Jet.

Hi Stephen, can you tell me what gauge strings are on my Indian SWB1?

Apart from the roadworn cosmetics the only difference with the JMJ is a custom-spec pickup voiced to be similar to JMJs original '66 Mustang. So tonewise it may have a slightly more vintage vibe than the MIJ but it's still going to sound like a Mustang and unlikely to be much different to your MIJ. I haven't tried a JMJ, love the way it looks but a little pricey for me.
Yeah - My thoughts too - I'd like a second Mustang to keep roundwounds on, but I'm unsure that the JMJ is a better option. It's undeniably pretty, but at a price. I'm thinking I'll wait until the second hand ones hit the market......

Anyone here on Basschat tried both? - I'm down in Cornwall and a trip to a dealer is a bit of an expedition.

You could ping the main man himself, he has his own section on talkbass.

A wider question around the differences in his signature to the production models already in the market would likely get you a response.
Done.

Justin Meldal Johnsen signature model ( road worn/ made in Mexico).

Thanks for the feedback - I really love my MIJ Mustang, its my main bass - I'm wondering if the JMJ will add anything to what the MIJ already does (apart from maybe looking prettier).

So now the dust has settled a little on the release of the new JMJ... Who has played both the JMJ AND the MIJ Mustangs - I'm keen to know how they compare soundwise......
Love my MIJ Mustang, am I going to get anything different soundwise from the JMJ?

I'm going to try Rotosound (my default).
To know them is to love them

I've just put a set of strings on that were the original stock strings on my MIM Mustang PJ - not sure if they are Fender or De'addario? - they don't really fit properly, but it will at least give me an idea of what I can achieve tonally - I'm already now using both pickups, with tone full up, and now using the neck pickup to add depth.

Peavey Foundation Bass Day

I have an early 90's version at the moment, sounds like a jazz on steroids with the super ferrite pickups.
This is currently my fifth Peavey and is my bass for gigs.
