1.
can't think of any way of doing something like that without it sounding like a critisism.

though i did forget to say thanks for the ideas so far, keep em coming.
I'd say listen, you're a capable guy and a great laugh, but your level of musicianship isn't as high as I would have liked, namely your timing, tone, stage presense are what's causing the problem, or whatever it is your case. It's nice to pick out a few good things before you mention the bad points, but try to be specific. Another thing would be to say also that you think that he has great potential, but still some rough edges, in the nicest possible way. If you're hard on him, he may think well fk you man, look at yourself, or he may be very disheartened and down about it, where's if you chose your words more carefully, perhaps he can go away thinking, okay, well I've got some work to do, that's cool. That's why it'd be good if you be specific about the areas he needs to improve. If you're certain about ousting him, talk to him 1 to 1, not during a band practice or when you're all together.

  2. Almost brand new, ex dem, no ink. Reason it's free is that there's no psu with it, and they are exceptionally hard to find. Picked up from the birmingham area, b24. Have an unopened lexmark z series that I was gonna throw, can have that too if you want.
  3. There's no reason why you can't make any bass easy and pleasent to play. Some just need an action ajustment, some need a neck shim, truss adjustment, nut work(reduction/raising), fret dressing/leveling, a new bridge or perhaps all of those things. You know what kind of a neck you like, and once you've got that to your liking, playability is something you have almost total control over.

  4. All depends on the situation. If things are tight, and you're desperate for a new bass or bit of gear, but think it'll piss your wife off, can't you sit down and talk about it? Give her an insight into your hobby so that she's more understanding when it comes to spending money on it. If there's a good reason you need a piece of equipment, and you have the money, there's no reason why your wife shouldn't be down with it, but on the other hand, if you just want a nice shiny new bass for no other reason than that you want one, but still need to redo the bathroom/kitchen, then maybe you should sort that out first. When's the last time you bought your wife something nice, took her out, or went on holiday? We all have things outside of work and family life that we like to pursue, and it's important that we pursue them things, but at the same time, your wife, and kids if you have any, are far more important than your hobby(s), and should always come first.

  5. I did have a good thing going with buying laptops from (a place) at 10% of their trade price, and they might only need a keyboard, but were otherwise brand new, so you could make so much money and undercut every other guy selling the same thing, just couldn't get enough to make a living out of it, and these fking things go wrong so much, every other one develops some fault after a weeks use. Anyway, I've really looked at all the possible ways to make some money out of ebay but I can't come up with anything. Take cheap stuff like games, DVD's, whatever, I'm not gonna be able to get the stuff cheaper than any of the other guys on ebay buying the same sh*t at trade, so to even sell something you'd have to undercut so much that it wouldn't be worth the effort for the pittons that you would make, and even if you could sell in major volume, you still have to deal with all the stupid questions, the paypal disputes, posting, etc, it'd be a full time job and a half. Selling the expensive stuff which gets you the most profit is still worse though, because of the postal risks with loss and damage, and of course, fraudsters... I'm only in the 400's of transactions, and I've already had enough of using it for business.

Buying is such a nightmare too, who can just hit the buy button? You can't, you have to check feedback, buyer protection, check if there's a VAT charge buried under the stupid amount of inane sh*t covering the page, I hate it.

Still, failing a mate or someone on a forum like this buying your gear, where else are you going to get a decent price for it? If you're just selling the odd bit of sh*t here and there, you can't beat it really.

  6. they are from a jackson concert V MIJ from 1993. As for price, dunno, if I get a good offer I'll accept it, if not, I'll put it on ebay and let it run. These were in my jackson bass years ago, but the active circuit board started causing problems, I didn't know until now I could just wire them as passive instead :dummy:
How about £35+2postage for the set? they are quality pickups, I never would have taken them out if it wasn't for the issue I had.

  7. hmm, I've never been able to buy a legitimate product from HK, I certainly wouldn't go over there with the intention of spending large amounts of money on musical instruments. Don't forget aswell that many retailers there will double their prices as soon as they seen some European guy walk in..

  8. I think the best thing is the marcus miller thing the guy posted, just start out with thumb, no plucks with the fingers. Using fingers with the thumb too, I started learning it with the clarke tune lopsy lu, it's a simple enough riff so that you can get a feel for it.

  9. no recording gear I'm afraid.

It's got a tonezone bridge/chopper/paf joe pickups. It's an RG Prestige 2570EX VSL. I'm looking for 350, very fair price. It comes with the Ibanez Hardcase. The body has a lot of paint wear at the bottom, and on the corners, a little ding on the front beside the tremolo, and there's also a 2" by 1" mark on the back in the middle where the paint was stripped slighty. Otherwise flawless condition. No cracks or anything like that. Neck and tremolo all pro set up, frets leveled/dressed not too long ago.

  10.
Yeah, looks a bit bulky.

I think my old head is in my parents garage, it's a guitar one with reverb on it. It stopped working about 10 years ago. If it's still there you can have it. Might be worth fixing ?
Thanks for the offer, might take you up on it alright.
