Nice review. I've not tried one of these before. The sound clips of the Boss FT-2 make it sound like a stellar filter.

Agreed, thanks for posting, just snagged one on eBay!

Thanks, Bo0tsy!
And glad to hear you got your hands on one, dannybuoy! Hope you got it at a good price too! As I recall, they are not very expensive on ebay. -
My personal favorite is the old Boss FT-2. I did a review of it and currently it actually tops the list :-) Well, the list is quite new, so I don't say it's the best pedal ever, but I do like it a lot! I put in some sound clips as well, so you're welcome to give it a quick listen here:

I have the Dual Bass Station by Providence, and I find it to be indispensable.
Two inputs: I switch between electric and upright constantly at each gig
Individual master volumes: set the basses at the same volume at the start of the gig
3 band eq with sweepable mids: leave the amp flat and eq each bass via the pedal
tuner and mute: silent tuning
If I was playing one bass at a gig I wouldn't bother with it, unless I wanted to set up two different core tones (e.g slap and fingerstyle), but for two basses it's the biz!

I mostly like this pedal, but also found a few flaws along the way. Still a nice one though... -
I had a Boss GT-6B for a while. Now I am back to pedals again. Nothing wrong with the board though, it could actually produce some pretty usable sounds.
Oh, and you can pick them up pre-owned very cheap these days. Way below your budget! -
Yeah, compressors are tricky ones. I had an EBS Multicomp on my board for a while, but used it mostly as a 'kick-in' effect as opposed to being on all the time. Turned out I rarely did kick it in, though...
Have been over a few different compressor pedals, but have to admit that the one I used for the longest was actually a Focusrite rack unit (Tonefactory) that had a pretty nice optical compressor.
But now I may have found a pedal that gives me the same subtle and musical type of compression (also optical). I got myself the BBE Opti Comp that is very simple (2 knob design), but does a nice job smoothing out the peaks without messing too much with the fundamental tone. So far, I really like that one. One of the tests I always put compressors to is how they handle going directly from muted playing style to slap. It's the outer extremes, I know, but I actually do that sometimes :-)
I also did a review with some sound clips if you wanna check out what it sounds like.

Hello all... I am new in here, but I am a bass player and something of a pedal geek. Love those tiny (some of them) things with their little LEDs, rotating knobs and (sometimes) amazing sounds. Hope that I will fit in here.
Just for the fun of it, I decided to review a few of my current pedals, but it wasn't really fun without sharing them. So I created a simple blog (iWeb) and posted it just a few weeks ago. Please know that it's just a spare time hobby and a labour of love and not least fun, so please bear with me if I get stuff wrong sometimes, or if the flow of new reviews become less steady :-)
I'd like to get inputs on anything you guys think I could do to improve both the site and the reviews. I made the rule for myself that I had to include sound clips in every review, because most of the time that would be what i would be interested in. Hearing what the darn pedal sounds like. I'll throw in my opinion (since it is a review), but that's just mine.
(BTW, I posted a similar thread over on Talkbass last week, so if you're there too, sorry for the 'spamming')

Filter Quest!

Wow. You're really moving through some filters here! :-) Too bad the Boss didn't work out as well as expected. Hope you can move it on without too many problems though. Good luck on the ongoing quest!
