2.
I recorded a short medley of two "Shadows"-themes with my Wal bass... the soundquality is not superb and the playing could be better but it was just for fun :-)

Don't know how to embed so here's the link..

Lesley en Rosbief are awesome, too :)

Like the flip chart for the drummer... What does it say on it?
It says "Go get lost - I'm going to buy a drum machine."
:)

4.
Hi Oliver !
I'm a bit surprised actually to see another midi-Wal for sale since I sold you mine some time ago (which you sold shortly after). Probably the Wal-vibe is a bit too seducing :-)
Good luck with your sale ! Nice looking bass...(you can use it as an "ordinay" Wal without the midi-module)
Price seems to be ok, I sold mine for exactly the same as you may recall..
Hi Geert,

yes, yours went for a as-new fretless sixstring Wal which I couldn't resist. Unfortunately, I had to sell the 6 to finance the isolation of our loft ...

Why again a midi Wal? Well, actually I was after an ordinary MK II 4 and that one was the first I spotted at that time. I solely used it as an "ordinary" Wal bass.

And this one rips your head of and tears down walls ... which my new one is equally capable of, so there's no reason to keep the other one.

So, having sold the Midi Wal would still leave me with my new white MK II 4 and my translucent green lined fretless Wal MK II 5.

I'm practically sold :)

5. Swapped for an incredible fretless :) Thanks for your interest.

Hi all,

at last I've decided against keeping this killer Wal, since soundwise there is hardly a noticable difference between my new white Wal MK II and this wonderful 1989 Wal MK II midi bass, and I cannot afford owning 3 Wals at the same time.

It's in a great condition. Wenge facings over mahogany core, ebony fretboard. It weighs in at slightly below 5 kgs. Frets are fine. Neck straight. Very very low action.
Currently strung with Sadowski steel strings. Only flaw is that sometimes there is some creaking sound from the bridge poti, but that shouldn't be a great issue. Also, there is no midi module with this bass, since I purchased the bass without one from its original owner (editor-in-chief of the reknown bass magazine "Bass Professor"). Having emailed the original developer of that midi system, Steve Chick told me that these module wouldl crop up now and then on the second hand market, since they were not produced for Wal exclusively.

Otherwise fully working electronics & very powerful output featuring that thunderous Wal tone we're all after.

Keep in mind that these midi Wals are very rare and collectible items.

I've swapped the chrome tuners with some black ones by Schaller. The original ones are still here if you want them.

Comes in a sturdy, as-new Warwick RoadReady Rockcase. I'm willing to ship worldwide.

This is a great sounding and playing Wal.

Cheers
Oliver

6. Yes - back to the proper thread:

Hi all,
This is my new Moby Dick Wal MK II, currently being shipped to Germany. This is Paul's first shot of it taken at Wal basses last week to wet my appetite and two close ups of the neck and body taken by Paul during the building process.

spex:

Wal MkII 4 white polyester finish
gold hardware
fretted macassar ebony neck
solid Spanish cedar body
4,4 kgs

yummy!!

7. Hi all,
thought we could also use this thread to post our new Wals. This is my new Moby Dick Wal MK II, currently being shipped to Germany. Yes these pres sound like the big SVT rigs. Yet I prefer the sound of the Alembic pre pushed by a Tech 21 BDDI for some dirt. Thus the Ampeg has to go. :)

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I have a Paypal account, which until now I have only used for paying stuff. But I found that you can also receive money with it. Stupid me ...
Best regards

9. Hi all,

I've one of the aforementioned preamps as spare. It's in perfect technical and optical condition and sounds as it should. This rare Ampeg preamp is in Germany.

Asking price is 450 GBP + shipping costs (15 GBP to UK)

Best regards
Oliver

PS: It's one of these, but looks even better:

10.
I was the one who send the first email when this bass appeared and the seller has been so kind to respect this.. Normally this bass is heading for Belgium this week (looking forward to it and thanks for the kind replies, Gary).
Hey Geert,
did the Wal virus get you finally again :) I remember you saying it comes down to owning only one Wal in the end ...

11.
My German's somewhat rusty, but it appears that the seller will only send to other addresses in Germany...
Ahh - sorry for the confusion mates - yes it's mine and I would also ship to the UK. I just bought a Glockenklang Heart Rock Poweramp with 1200W at 2,7 ohms to trigger my Quattro 800W at 4 ohms and an Orange OBC 115 400w at 8 ohms.

So grab a bargain - these Glock Bass Art tops are VERY rare indeed! :)
Cheers

12.
Went to the new Wal factory yesterday with Mike G and had a great couple of hours... Paul Herman gave us his time and showed us around which was fantastic, so a big thanks to Paul for that!

Very briefly, the details on prices, build times etc, etc will all be available soon on the new website which is about to be launched though there isn't a date set for that yet. Quite wisely, Paul is ensuring that things are done very carefully so that the re-launch of Wal Basses is done with great care and respect for the brand name and also, to manage the considerable expectation that there is out there from amongst the Wal bass community!

With that in mind, I've said to Paul I'll let him see any photos I took yesterday before posting them up here or on the Walbassesnaturally group on Yahoo, so when he's had a look at them first and okay'd them, I'll put them up in another thread...
What about posting some of those pics now?

13.
I use a Neotech Mega strap with my Wal, which is quite heavy and can easily play a 2 hour set without any shoulder or back pain. Highly recommended. They're about £30.

If you want a slightly longer strap, get the guitar one - exactly the same but a bit longer.

Jens Ritter sells the same ones for 65€ (!) at Ritter basses. I have them, too, and they are the best weapon for the Wals.

14.
Wow That is lovely

I hope to have my new one by mid summer :)
seconded. Waiting for June to come. Great Bass & cool pics!
