    That's awesome!
Did he say what was wrong with the pickup?

Mike - Paul said he hasn't come across anything like that before. He reckons it to be a freak tiredness of the plastic housing. It was the part of the PU with the spring under the screw where you can alter the height of the overall PU (see pic). The plastic just surrendered to the increased pressure of the spring and screw and just broke in two. I guess Paul justed replaced the housing.

yeah Mike would be easier just doing that, but I also want to trim the herd a bit - keeping it down to 3 Wals in all, and the white one is also very light and thus a perfect live instrument for me.
Further, the white one has to get serviced by Paul since there was a freak tiredness within one of the plastic housings of the pickups.

So it's done: waiting for it to be shipped first week of May :)

  3. Hey dood,

I run my Wals into the Symmetry, then into and MXR bass envelope, then into the Darkglass Vintage, into the B3K and then into an MXR Bass Chorus and a Carbon copy.
Formerly I also had a Duality in front of the Vintage, but that was just too much going into a Mesa Walkabout w/ two 1x15" Diesel cabs ... I found that pairing the vintage with the b3k is the way to go for me and my (Rock)band.

Wow, hate to see you do that to such a beautiful -and I mean really beautiful- white Wal.
Why not just buy the all-black and gold Mk2 that's on talkbass?

Yes I did, it's a few months too late as I have already placed an order for a new build...

I am very tempted to buy it to tide me over until mine arrives (summer 2017) and sell my MK1 fretless to pay for it, but I'm concerned that the fretless sixer will be much harder to move on when I need to pay for the new build...

    Hi Rob et al!
I'd advice you not to go for that 1996 sixer since maybe it still has a dead note on its fingerboard. I owned it a couple of years ago and it then came from its original owner in Germany, telling me that Pete Stevens had had a hard time with that one. It first had a fretless board which warped, so it was exchanged for a new one at the German owner's cost (!). The second board then showed a dead spot. I don't know about the exact current condition, but from the piccies it seems as if it's still the same fretless board with the dead note. Maybe Jens as the first owner could shed some light on that one?

Absolutely. I bought it from spiritchaser. It must have been fretted at some point according to the serial number in the Wal database. But it arrived here with a superthin fretboard. Close to no wood left. I had german luthier Günther Eyb of Eyp Guitars replace the fretboard with a 5mm ebony board. That made a lot of a difference in tone in a very positive way. I´m very happy with it as it is. So much that my only fretless GAS is a 70s mapleneck Precision for it´s beatiful and very different tone.

    Hey Jensenmann!

Great to see the shedua fretless in full bloom - it was in that worn down state when I got it out of an evil bay deal as you will remember. Seems Mr Eyb is a great luthier.
Do you still need the midi MKII or would you sell it again?

    Cheers

  7. We've just swapped our Wals between England and Germany and it's been a real pleasure to deal with Rob.

Excellent communication and very true to his word! A very generous and caring chap, too!

I can only recommend dealing with Rob and would always do so again without hesitation.

Fingers crossed tomorrow I'm going to receive his Shedua Wal 6 via UPS and he's going to get my fretless Sycamore Wal MKI on Thursday. Wal happiness :)

Cheers again for the smooth swap Rob!
