1.
somebody pointed out to me that if you wear it over a black shirt, bobody will be able to see it. Just a thought...
The perfect solution and I always wear black at gigs, somebody has to be in mourning for my lack of talent....
Did he not also postulate; "Weight=Tone"
Amen to that, the sustain alone and lack of dead spots from the G&L attests to this theory.
  2. I like it. I've just traded up to a G&L Tribute L2000 with the heavy Swamp Ash body and I bought the Dare strap as I have neck and now shoulder problems, wait awhile you youngsters - it's coming your way.....easy to be smug with young joints and muscles! I found the strap took a bit of setting up and it still doesn't quite sling the bass in the same place as a conventional one so a little accommodation is needed but it was comfortable and it works. I'm not sure it's cool looking but f**k 'em the audience ain't standing up for two hours bopping around with a plank of wood hanging round their necks.
  3. I've just taken delivery of an Indonesian built (Cort I believe) G&L L2000 Tribute. Wow! Talk about putting notes under your fingers. With my Markbass Jeff Berlin set almost flat it blazes the pants off my Fender Pbass Lyte fitted with SD qtr pounders. Phenomenal tonal variation and power. Swamp ash body is heavy but the sustain is gorgeous and no Fender style dead spots on the neck. After 40 odd years of playing it makes me just want to pick it up and boogie. Bought mine from Lance Perkins at Guitar Works Fladbury Nr Evesham. Great setup great price. If you see one in a shop pick it up and play it but be prepared to part with the hard earned when you can't put it down!
  4. I've been using these strings for a while now and they seem to vary considerably in quality. I've had sets that lasted ages and kept a good tone but since I've been gigging again (so playing more) I've broken a couple on stage so I won't use them any more. I also feel they're a bit hard on the old pinkies too, especially if you slide around a bit. You pays your money......

    G&L Basses

I tried out a Tribute L2000 yesterday at Lance Perkin's Guitar Works in Pershore. Took my Markbass Jeff Berlin combo in to try it out. Phenomenal bass. I was able to set the Markbass with virtually all eq flat and got a sound that left my P Bass Lyte with SD Quarterpounders standing in the dust and the Fender needs heavy eq from the amp. Gassing for it now but I want the basswood body wih maple board and the present Mrs K to be out of the country before I buy it.
  6. Hi Just popped in after a while away. I have the MB Jeff Berlin 1x15 combo (without the tweeter) and play with a loud pub Blues Rock band and a 5 piece function band. We've played some biggish venues and I've never once felt the need to augment with another cab or send to the PA. I play a Fender PBass Lyte fitted with passive SD quarter pounders and this amp kicks ass. Tons of volume and bottom end you can feel. At the end of the gig I put its little coat on and carry it out one handed, it's the loudest handbag in the world! After years of buggering up my back with heavy amps this one is definitely not for sale.
