1.
Yeah I’ve heard that with a few manufactures – HotRox in Nottingham were having some issues with ZVex about selling the pedals a bit too cheaply, seems ridiculous though and almost like a false economy for keeping the prices ‘artificially’ high. I can understand it though, oh well.
It all sounds a bit strange to me...the cheaper company is well established (for at least 20ish years) and are selling it for a shedload cheaper...the guy at absolute is going to have a heart attack when I show him...no doubt he'll go into a tirade about "well is it in stock there!?...lots of companies promise prices but if theyre not in stock yadda yadda yadda etc etc etc..." Either way, will be great to see the look on his face...:)

  2.
Where are you thinking of getting it from mate?
If you're asking me, I would hopefully be getting it from Absolute Music, down here in Dorset. They were selling it for £699, but the price has jumped crazily to £849 for some reason...

They said they would price match and I've seen it for cheaper than £699, even though the guy I spoke to said he would report the cheaper seller to Warwick as they can't sell it cheaper than £699 or something...weird...

But I'll give it a go and see what I can do :)

  3.
My $$ is a Nivana Black natuaral oil finish, (I should have said from the start...dohhh), so what will be the best thing to use with this finish? Will it be wax or an oil? If oil which one should I use?
Hi Sy

I was under the impression that none of the coloured finishes needed any more caring except for just a polish with a cloth every so often as they are sealed by the oil finish and it was only the natural finish that needed the wax...I may have misread/misunderstood this tho!

You could have a look on the 'wick website and d'load the manual if you havent already  (in "resources" http://warwick.de/modules/produkte/produkt...14429&cl=EN )Theres lots in there that is quite interesting, quite a good read actually (hmmm...that sounds a bit lame...reading manuals...I'm a man...I shouldnt "read" manuals...) :)

  4. Hi guys

In my opinion, one of the best Bossa Nova style d'n'b chillout songs ever...and one of the best funk basslines to a song :)

    Its incredible!

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=tyMb45Xxg98

If anyone knows who the bassist is, I would be very grateful ! I believe it's sampled as Kyoto Jazz Massive are two dj's who have mixed it...but its a great song

    Thanks in advance guys !

    Matt

  5. Wow, that streamer is beautiful !

That finish makes it look incredible! Mmmmmm!

I dont think I could afford high polish though, so I doubt a normal oil finish would look anywhere near as good as that :). Correct me if I'm wrong though!

I want more money  *sniff* Damn this GAS...

  6. I think the idea of using the wiki is a good one :)

Would it be possible to advertise the wiki a little better on the site?

It would also be awesome to make people aware of whats on the wiki site, especially the "vault" section. I wouldn't be surprised if some people are completely unaware the wiki section exists!

Can we possibly invite people to start posting their pics in the wiki? I dont know how long or how much effort this will take to do, but it would be pretty cool !

    Thanks for all the comments!

    Matt

  7. Hmm, youre most probably right Crazykiwi, thanks for your input :)

The only thing is that the wiki site doesn't seem very comprehensive, with only the Warwick Thumb for example under "Warwick" and a majority of the Fender Basses with no topics yet ! The gear porn section, although good, makes it hard to search for pictures as you have to either search for the member name or bass model (a problem if you cant remember it) and theres no option to search for finishes or configurations.

Maybe the idea could be integrated into the wiki site, but I'm not sure its very well advertised with only a small link in the top right of the home page. If it was made more accessible and people could it, use it and easily contribute to it by uploading pictures, I think it would be a really valuable resource .

I'm not really up on the technicalities regarding forum software updates or modifications, but I hope something can happen as I reckon people would enjoy showing off their beasts!

If this really is too tough to integrate, thats no problem, I was just wondering if it was technically possible to do it and gauge reaction to the idea

Thanks for all the replies guys, keep 'em coming !

    Matt

  8. LoL, yeah I see what you mean :)!

Yeah I was thinking of a format like that, EBS_freak, say 1 or 2 examples of every model and colour combination for each manufacturer.

    E.g:

    Fender
    Jazz
    Original '74 Jazz
3 Colour Sunburst (tort pickguard, maple fingerboard)
3 Colour Sunburst (black pickguard, rosewood fingerboard [or whatever])

I reckon it would serve as a good reference point for people with bad GAS as they could see which combo of materials, finishes etc they would prefer to help make up their minds...

I know people would love to show others what they have and I dont think people would see it as a chore to put up a bit of info about their baby(ies)

Any better suggestions would be awesome

Would love this to happen, I reckon it would help a lot of people out; not only to help buying choices, but just for people to admire and gaze in awe at other people's pride and joy !

Each pic could have a short description of the bass as well (electronics config, pups installed, short history of the bass etc), though maybe I'm getting ahead of myself! LoL !

Look forward to hearing any more comments!

  9. Hey guys,

I was driving home from work yesterday and randomly thought about a bass I'd seen one of the members post a picture of on the forums.

I couldnt remember who posted the picture or what thread it was in and I knew I had little hope of finding it again...and it got me thinking...

Is it possible to set up a bass collection gallery on the forums? Members can post pictures of their basses and people can search the pictures by manufacturer, colour, forum member name etc etc etc. This could even be linked to the introductions section; "Introduce yourself, upload a pic of your bass"...?

Some of you may think this is a bad idea, but I've seen some incredible basses on this forum and (in the interests of gear porn), I'm sure many people would like to see them all together in one place .

If this idea has been done before, or its already in place somewhere on the forums, I'm really sorry to waste your time :) If its a new idea and you've got any thoughts on it, or how easy/hard it would be to set up then leave a comment .

Hope you're all ok, catchya later

  10.
Yes!Bloody heavy, the nut cut my left hand, but the sound is amazing.
Which kind of nut did you have on that one Lee? The JAN II? Ive heard they had these annoying plasticky bits that cut people to pieces! Glad they dont do those anymore...

I didnt think the $$ was that heavy...maybe I was just wearing my rose tinted glasses when I tried it and was overcome with GAS...

  11.
But I do like the Red and for some strange reason the green looks pretty sweet too, but I do like loud colours :)
I didnt think I liked any of the colours...but that turquoise blue is unusual...and strangely alluring...

Would love to see some in Amber as thats the only colour I havent seen and possibly one of the only I would consider, other than the natural (and maybe turquoise...)

Thanks for the replies so far guys, really appreciated to have such wicked advice and help

  12. I know the Bubinga Standard is one of the heaviest, weighing in at a metric tonne.

But the Ash is lighter in weight and has a slightly brighter tone imo...I found the Bubinga a bit "muddy". I've only had a little play on them thus far, so not sure how they hold up over a set :)

  13.
I wish they made transprent white finish.
Have you seen the Custom Shop Streamer #210?

    http://warwick.de/modules/custom_shop/News...nder=&cl=EN

That is one hot bass... :)

  14. Thanks for that Monz, great tips :)

LoL, wicked to hear the 'wicks can survive sub-zero temperatures !

Do you mean the guitarists' tuning was all over the place? Or they were just having a prog-jazz moment? lmao

  15.
Definately a good choice. I've got a US Standard Jazz which is very nice, but the $$ does Jazz sounds plus a lot more. Mine has become my main gigging bass.
I know the Jazz has a unique sound and I love the fact that a Jazz sound is really only done perfectly by a Jazz, but its so much more expensive due to taxes etc over here and I can't justify the extra mooolah over the $$ :)

Saying all this, I still need to own a Jazz one day...Hugh Manson (of Mansons Guitar Shop in Exeter) said so .

  16.
Man i love these $$. Nirvanna black all the way, so what if their popular, you'll be the only guy in your band playing one!
lol, thanks jesus :)

  17.
I did quite a lot of research and playing of Warwicks before I dived in and bought one..

The reason behind me just getting the natural finish was that if the bass gets grubby or dinged judicious use of an Iron and some brown paper will pull the ding back out and zero grade wire wool sorts the finish out a treat. Waxing regular is the key though, and although Warwick supply their own wax with the bass there are better cleaning beeswax products out there to keep it looking spik n span.

The Warwick forums off their main site is a fabulous source of info and tips and tricks

Just buy it and enjoy the GROWL lol
Ive been dreaming about that sound since I tried it a few weeks ago...

Do you need to keep waxing it every week for all eternity? I read the manual on the 'wick site and it said that after a while it builds up a layer so you have to wax it less. Obviously this time period depends on how much you play etc, how many times do you wax it a month Monz?

I'm always reaaaally wary of ironing or wire wooling basses, can anything seriously go wrong (i.e burning/scoring/singeing/seriously damaging it/being accused of being a pyromaniac :) )?

  18.
I find the waxing very soothing :)
LoL, I can imagine it is quite nice to just sit there cleaning it...

I think the natural finish does look good, is it worth getting the high gloss polished natural finish?

  19. Thanks for the quick reply Si!

They look amazing and feel incredible to play, I love the slap tone and the versatility...was going to get an '08 American Standard Jazz, just thought I'd try a Warwick (a Corvette Passive/Active) and was convinced...then tried a $$ and was blown away!

  20. Hi guys

Been looking on the forum for ages and couldn't find a post that helped me...so sorry if its been asked before!

I'm on the brink of getting a Corvette $$ buuuuut, one thing is holding me back from ordering!

Which oil stain finish should I go for?!

I'm not sure I prefer the coloured finishes, nirvana black seems a little common and some of the other colours seem a bit garish (blue, green, red). I love the Natural Oil finish and would get that, however I am concerned about the amount of waxing you have to do (whereas the coloured finishes don't need waxing afaik).

I'm tempted by the Tobacco, Honey and Orange finishes, though I haven't seen any examples of these and the small examples on the 'Wick website are hard to imagine on a full bass...!

If anyone has any advice/pictures then I'd love to hear it!

    Many thanks in advance

    Matty

P.S; is waxing/caring for the natural finish a bit of a chore or is it easy to do?

    Thanks again :) !
