1.
Hi

I found Alex Sampson's stuff excellent.

The marketing is just typical insanely enthusiastic yank style, but he's actually very motivated for imparting knowledge and has a real passion for teaching.

He also has a web forum and a raft of additional teaching videos but it's restricted unless you are actually a customer.

Once you're on the customer list, he sends out loads of extra resources, very regularly, free. He is a proponent of giving you the material but you must do the work, hence the constant email reminders, which is a good thing.

I am in the same position as you in terms of lessons, hence self teaching but Alex Sampson's stuff starts from basic and goes into intermediate then advanced very quickly. I can't comment on the DVDs as I just paid for the online resource which I think was about £25.

I don't think it would be ethically right to just send you the PDF stuff I have as the guy does put a lot of work into it but I recommend him (I'm a bass newbie).

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Thanks for that, exactly the sort of opinion i wanted to hear!

I've just found a topic about it on Talk bass and the reactions where very interesting. People who actually bought his products where very happy
and the ones who didnt called him a scammer, and got very upset at him for using words such as "magic" or "formula". I think his marketing method does create a very negative effect, but Its important to note that he writes everywhere that he used these words, like magic and formula, just because they sound cool and there is no magic in becoming a good bass player, its all about hard work.

I will report back once i get the DVDs. I must say I am very curious about it.

2. Anyone have any experience with Alex Sampson stuff?

Here is a link : http://www.fretboardformula.com/the-relaunch.html

I actually read the whole thing, i know its sad but i guess this retarded marketing system actually managed to get me.

This guy also have some videos posted on another website http://www.bassguitartips.com/newblog/ And i find his videos
and the way he teaches to be very easy and fun to play along with.

The reason I'm posting this is because im looking for a more complete package of bass practice. Most of the dvds that
are around usually aimed at beginners and for people who are picking up the bass for the first time. I'm looking for
a more advanced DVD that also tells you what and when to practice. This package includes over six hours of
video and claims to cover a lot of ground with tips on how and what to actually practice. (which is what I am struggling with).

I know that idealy I would go to a teacher once a week, but unfortunately cant afford that at the moment.

Any thoughts about it? anyone this, or any other package this guy is selling? Maybe you know another DVD or books that fit
the description of what i need? ( I always prefer DVDs as I am dyslectic and find studying with videos much easier)

cheers!

3. I'm giving away four home made acoustic panels. Measurements are 99cm x 1.90cm. They are filled with these small panels i bought
on ebay, but you'd probably get better results by changing them to a more professional ones.

Pickup from my flat in Olympia. I have to leave by the end of the month (May) so if no one is interested i'll just call the
council to come and pick them up.

4. Ok, I'm selling my trusty yamaha CS5. I've produces many Techno tunes with this one but since I've been made redundant its time for it to go.

This synthesizer is responsible for many 80s fat bass lines, and some contemporary electro ones too. I think that this synthesizer could be used for anyone who is looking to get into synth programing and sound design. It has a very simple interface with basic 1 OSC - Filter - Envelope - LFO structure.

I'm not sure how much its worth really so offers are welcome. Any bass related stuff for trade are welcome too, nothing in particular!

I also have a MIDI to CV kenton box that i can add to the deal. Again offers are welcome if you are interested in the CV convertor included.
If you include the Kenton box than i'll throw in a fliter CV controller from kenton too! (this allows you to control the filter thru midi)

Here is a video i made to show what this beast sounds like controlled by the Kenton midi convertor:

5. What about Browne basses? In my opinion, the best looking basses around today. The guy who makes them learned everything by working with Carl Thompson.

6. Got this one about 5 month ago, perfect condition, used only at home for practice.
New one goes for £160, I'm looking for £100 or a direct swap with Roland bass micro cube.

For more information, visit Korgs website http://www.korg.co.uk/products/effects/pan...x5d/fx_px5d.asp

cheers.

7. Perfect condition, very lightly used in a non smoking studio. This is by far the best compressor you can get for this money.

here is what FMR has to say about it :

HOW IT'S DONE
The RNC achieves such high performance at a low cost by using evolutionary advances in digital technology, coupled with the best analog has to offer. Using digital controls and an all-analog signal path, the RNC offers accurate, precise controls and a clean tonal character.

The RNC provides two modes of operation: normal and SuperNice TM. Normal mode allows the RNC to be used for everyday compression tasks, like punchy snare drums or bass guitars, and is great for everything from gentle compression to serious squashing. SuperNice mode provides near-invisible signal compression for sensitive material where compression artifacts are less desirable (like vocals, acoustic guitar or the program bus).

HOW IT SOUNDS
In a word: transparent. The RNC yields clean, airy compression with few artifacts and little high end loss, even at massive gain reduction. This amazing performance is why many professionals are calling the RNC one of the best sounding compressors for under $2000 (and with a MSRP of $199US , it's way under two grand).

8. I went to a music shop the other day and tried the eden 210 combo, i was blown away as
it felt like this was the tone i was always after. I know that a lot of people are finding it just
too heavy to move around and end up selling it for that reason. The roland is very light weight
and very loud!

My DBASE is brand new, two month old, never gigged only had a couple of practice sessions with it.
It has 3 years warranty which i added to it as an option.

For those of you who are not fimilar with the Roland, i think the best way to describe the sound is HI-FI
and pure. Basically it sounds like an extremely loud studio monitor. It is 400W 210 + tweeter configuration.
Its very lightweight (24 Kilo) and very easy to get in and out of a car. If anyone is interested to come and
check it out, you will be more than welcome + a free cup of tea.

If anyone is interested, cash would go your way.
