1. I want to add another MM pickup to my OLP.

I am happy to cut the hole in the body - I have a router and know how to use it..

But I am not sure the best way to cut the scratchplate - it's a rather lovely mirror finish job that I would rather not cock up.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

2. I have recently acquired one of these with the intention of having some fun with mods. It is clear there are various options regarding better pup and adding a pre-amp.

However my thoughts are heading towards adding another MM pickup around 2 inches behind the neck. Is this a bonkers idea? My intention would be to wire the existing pickup to the rear volume pot leaving the front pot available for the neck pup.

If I buy a SBM4A can this be used passive?

There is a slight side effect; much of my time at work is spent thinking about tracks I should learn, things I cocked up at the last session etc. Work is tedious Bass is interesting.
For those of you that are doing more stuff than this – e. g regular gigs, multiple bands etc. Do you find the daily grind a distraction and sometimes feel xxxx this! I would rather be playing bass?

4. Perhaps it's just me.. When handed an unfamiliar bass in a music shop my somewhat limited ability becomes even more limited.

Trying out a cab today - stuff I know how to play becomes oddly difficult.

I have played the same bass since 1985 - perhaps I can't play anything else.

Anyone else have the same problem?

5. It would be interesting to know how many tickets end up with agents. Releasing tickets while likely buyers are at work must give the agencies more opportunity to grab rather too many before real fans get the chance.

6. I didn't want to buy from an agency - but when I was in a position to spend time looking for tickets (at lunch on the release day) all I could find were from agencies.

How does this work - where do the agents get tickets from?

Back to the gig. Is the sound better on the pitch at these stadium shows?

7. That is very disappointing. I don't know how these agencies work. I got mine through Get Me In, but ended up with different seats to those I had paid for. Apparently "my" seats were no longer available. Also why do the tickets go on sale on a weekday morning? Most people are at work and can't get away non work activities.

8. Been a fan of this lot since 1980, not seen them live till last night.

Had a great time and was very happy to be there, was a good show - but it pains me to say there was a tinge of disappointment.

A killer riff, lewd lyrics, Angus solo and the essential tight rhythm section groove are the essence of the band. Due to the size of the venue some key elements get lost in the mix - in particular the groove. Should have seen them years ago somewhere a lot smaller.

Also got the feeling we were getting a product rather than music.

If they do another tour I will still want to go.

9. Apologies for the thread resurrection but today was our first attempt.

Went rather well, was surprisingly tight with the drummer given it was my first time in over 25 years with a live one.

We managed to develop stuff on the hoof, wasn't all 12 bar. So possibly qualifies as a jam.

I just need to expand my improv abilities, but it was a lot of fun.
