logic studio is usually a slimmed down version of logic pro, less tracks and less shiny stuff i think.

if you are not doing massively complex projects then studio should be ok

    That is completely wrong.

What you would want is probably Logic Studio. This is a pack that includes Logic Pro (the bit you want), Mainstage (live effects etc for guitar, bass etc - like a performance mode of Logic) & Soundtrack for film stuff.

Logic Express is the cut down one which is basically Logic Pro without most of the good plugins (ie no space designer, no delay designer)

Logic 8 is plain old and may as well be avoided unless you can get a real licensed boxed copy from someone for like £30

  2. Few pics from Swanfest mate...including yourself ;)

Cheers for coming down and playing, The Cry were great!

  3. For sale - Yamaha 01v Digital Mixer. Great desk, great condition, can box it and post it.

Basically is a 12xlr in, 16 line in desk, that can be expanded with more digital/analogue input cards to make it something like a 40 channel desk that fits in a rack! Has electronic flying faders, which can be switched between different banks. So you can have your main mix setup, then 4 aux monitor mixes that you mix with faders instead of tiny little aux dials. Has some great digital effects, namely its trademark Yamaha reverb, chorus, delay, etc as well as amp simulators and some more bizarre stuff. Has compression/gates/effects/parametric EQ on every channel, including aux/fx/main masters.

All sorts of other neat stuff on it, like 2track returns if you're working in a studio and want to monitor off of a CD recorder... very flexible and works well for most purposes. A great intro to digital mixers, and in a live or studio setting will let you get rid of outboard effects racks and just use all the stuff built in.

    £340 + P&P.

Collection from Camberley, Surrey would be preferred, but postage is still cool. Only reason for sale is upgrading to their 01v96... its the next logical step for me.

  4. Fairly simple. You want to give your FOH engineer a Pre-EQ DI out that they can fiddle with for main PA duty. They make a good judgement on what you should sound like, with your input as well if you sort it during soundcheck. Then fiddle with your amp to your hearts content, to get an onstage monitoring sound that you prefer. Don't have bass in your foldback/wedge at all so you're just getting the bass sound onstage that you want.

  5. Up for sale... two boss bass pedals!

ODB3 Bass Overdrive. This is the bright yellow overdrive pedal. What to say about it... great condition... works 100%. A worthy addition to any pedalboard, to give anything from a light breakup to thicken up your tone, to a full effect distorted bass sound. Seems to retail at £80... up for sale at £50

SYB3 Synth Bass pedal. This is the silver boss synth pedal. Useful for very odd synth sounds... from lead sounds to background drone/swells. Needs tight playing, ideally play long notes into it rather than super-fast note changing... it doesn't follow that so quickly. I never really got to grips with it/had a use for it in the end so its up for sale. One thing to note - it has 2 outputs, one is meant to be blended synth/clean output with a dial to adjust blend. The other being a direct 'bypass' clean output. Infact the blended output seems to be just the synth half of the output. 2 ways around it... a lead/adaptor that takes 2xmono ts jacks into one mono ts jack going to each output, or go into 2 amp inputs/2 amps on your rig. I used this to output to a separate amp for synth duties. The newer SYB-5 which features expression control retails at £120. Grab this pedal for just £60.

  6. Selling my much loved Trace Elliot stack. Its the Ah300 GP6 head. Nice and loud, everything works fine, only notably missing 2 caps on the EQ sliders and 1 top of the gain dial. In addition, comes with a 2x15" cab. This was sold to me as an early Trace proto cab, I must admit it doesn't appear to be so much their style... weave rather than metal mesh covering. Has recently had new drivers put in, since the band who borrowed it dropped it forwards out of the taxi and ruined the drivers. The cab itself is a bit battered looking but structurally sound. I put castors on the bottom to make it easier to move... it weighs a ton to lift! Amazing deep, subby tone, and super loud using the Trace head.

£250 for the amp, cab and a lead to connect them up.

Its all based in Camberley, Surrey. Feel free to drop in and try it all out. PM me here or email [email protected]
