If I don't hear that it's finished by the end of April I'll be setting a deadline for completion. I don't want this bass rushed out of the door at the last minute, but I feel I've lost leverage since it's mostly paid for now.

  2.
How was that going? He said early last week he had done quite a bit and would send a picture (but didn't).
Wanted to have a look at yours to check out the colour. I can't remember specifics like whether all the hardware was there, but it didn't have any strings on it and I thought it was pretty much finished otherwise. I can't imagine you've got very long to wait at all, it was certainly closer to completion than my own.
I'm gonna ask the same question - I'm waiting on a JJ at the moment!
There weren't many completed or near-completed basses there at all. Saw a few from the 'stock' page, the Jaffa orange Jazz, and the Explorer-shape bass, but other than that there just seemed to be guitar necks everywhere! I was hoping to have a noodle on a few Shuker basses but I had my family in tow and I could only see a couple of basses that had strings on them.

  4. Popped into Jon's workshop for 5 minutes this afternoon on my way back down from Teeside to check out my bass in person. When I contacted Jon a month ago to let him know i'd be in the area he said he would have my bass finished by then but unfortunately it seems that other things have got in the way. I did manage to take some photos while I was there. The bass feels lovely to handle, rock solid build, and is much thinner and lighter than I'd originally expected. Jon still believes there's about a week of work left in it and I've asked him to let me know when it's finished so I can book leave from work to come and pick it up.

  5. Whereabouts are you? I've got a Hartke PRO 2200 2x12" 4 Ohm cab which is just sitting around unused that I would let go for £300

  6. First thing I do when getting into a venue is find out what the backline consists of. In some ways isn't it a better indication of how it sounds and performs than trying to demo it in a shop?

    I'm a shameless geek though :)

  7. Though I've tried it a few times I just can't seem to get the groove and timing that I'm after. I tend to go for the 'bounce off' and 'parallel to the strings' style, which is probably why I'm finding it so difficult to master!

  8.
The little Line 6 110 amp looks good for bedroom practice. Small, loud'ish if required as a back up amp with DI out and headphones out which is important. Some amp modelling as well if that's your thing.
+1. I rate mine very highly.

  9. You're all assuming that sale price should be a direct reflection of the material cost of producing an item. Why can't someone mark up their product based on brand? If you've worked really hard to promote your brand to the point where the name alone is worth 100-200% of the material cost of your product then kudos to you.

People buy the best that they can afford. I can't afford Fodera or Alembic, but I'm sure their marketing managers have profiled their target market and it just means that I'm not in it :)

  10. Love the fanned fret 9 and the basslab looks interesting. +1 would be interested to hear your opinion on how it sounds or some clips.

I'm not too keen on the looks of the Singlecut 6, but I'm very particular over the shape/outline that a Singlecut should have.

  11. First gigging amp was a Crate BX80. 80 Watt 1x15" combo. It was massively underpowered but all I could afford on pocket money. It also weighed as much as a house.

I currently use a Hartke HA3500 head into a BFM Omni10 cab and have more heardroom than I could possibly need.
