I have a 30 year old Ibanez Roadstar II bass with a blue popeye maple top and is very playable.....it does a decent enough job even though i've tried lots of basses over the years i am happy with it.....i like to tyre kick new basses now and again and i think there are a few i would buy if i felt a real need.....but not to date. Wouldn't mind a short scale Gibson but nothing else extravagent.

IMHO the best gig i ever saw was Dumpy's Rusty Nuts at the Marquee.....the gig lights failed and they continued with the house lights on......proper RnR

My brother knows Harvey Bainbridge but he's good enough to replace the whole band lol.....

Quite a few of the gigs i've seen recently have been at the Shepherds Bush Empire.....or the O2 or whatever it's called this week.....
But as a smaller venue i think it's ideal -
My drummer is my brother.....seems to work okay. Had all our rows when we were younger so can't be bothered nowadays.....life is too short

Most Luthiers will give an assessment of an instrument before any work is attempted.....why not ask around and send a few emails?

Going to Borough Studios near London Bridge this Friday.....not used it before but for 30 quid for 4 hours with a full backline it won't break the bank.....
-
Holy War by Thin Lizzy.....had it on tape donkeys years ago and heard it on Team Rock Radio recently so downloaded it......a really good Phil Lynott bassline too!

A friend of mine is cutting me a brass scratchplate for my bass (Vintage V96 musicman copy) and i just wondered if i would need to ground it out given that its metal? Are there are pitfalls to fitting a metal scratchplate?
Any thoughts appreciated..... -
Well it seems theres an audience out there for it Lol.....clearly it's in the early stages but i hope it come to fruition as i can only think of one band (Hoaxwind) doing a tribute act at the mo.....
So hopefully we'll see in Time and Space at some point :-)

Waves Triangle Circle Square.....I'd get them crystal clear by the hour

I fancy a Burns Bison.....i don't know if they've ever been trendy.....lol

Dawn, no gig this weekend! Is a good name for a song lol

I've just come back to playing after a break of nearly 20 years.....FIRST thing i did was contact my old drummer and a guitarist mate for a few rehearsals......i booked up the rehearsal studio and i will pay for it too because jamming properly in a rehearsal room for a few hours can be some of the best education and practice you can do! It's a surefire way of renewing your enthusiasm too!
Keep the faith..... -
Loads of food for thought there guys.....the back catalogue is massive so loads to choose from.....tempted to get a Saxophone player in too.....love the early Nik Turner stuff!
Thanks for the input :-) -
That's nearly the whole set sorted! Haha

Well energy simulators turn your eyeballs into craters.....but an orgone accumulator is a back brain stimulator.....so i reckon that's the way to go.....

I think the only thing that will be wobbling about on our stage will be the band lol -
All cool suggestions......i'm just setting up the flanger for some nice Woooooshy sounds ;-)

After a hiatus from playing the bass for nearly 20 years i've started playing again.
Me my brother and a mate are going to jam some Hawkwind songs.....but which one's are essential for a tribute set list?
We already have the obligatory Silver Machine and Masters of the Universe on the list and i love Hassan I Sahba.....
What should we add??
