Fender (mex) 1970's Retro Sunburst / Rosewood / Block & Bound

Very impressive instrument, little to choose here betweem the USA version which i've had multiple examples of !

Nice Light Jazz with a very full Jazz Bass tone, great slap tone, bally bridge pickup sound and a nice bark to the Neck Pickup...

Very Very impressive example of the top quality basses from Fender Mexico

Prefer collection from Sunderland in which case £350 take it away !

If you can get your hands on one they're £720 New so grap a REAL BARGAIN !!

Pics if needed.... i'm just not at home just now to take any.... Bass is mint 9.9/10 !!

4. All replied....

It's a smidge under 10lb but does feel lighter !

The bridge ain't feather weight !!

To the subject of trades.... Much prefer cash and it's priced to sell for cash

However.... May be corruptable !!

Would consider Aguilar TH500 or DB cabs

Basses, would have to be something that hit the spot as I'm trying to stay faithful to my custom Jazz

5. Guys...

Very nice looking, sounding and playing Jazz Bass put together by The Bass Doc

Details :

Mahogany Jazz Body with Spalted Maple Top in satin Finnish
Status Graphite Jazz Neck
MEC Pickups
Carvin Active / Passive 3 Band Circuit
Babicz Bridge
Copper shielded cavity

The bass is pretty light and balances well, action goes very low as you'd expect from a Status Neck, the instrument is very resonant and sounds more toward the vintage side than the ultra hifi you may expect from graphite. Sits very well in the mix, big tone ! The circuit is very usable and doesn't have any daft extreme sounds that you wouldn't use.

Only 'bad' bit is that the neck has previously had a different set of tuners fitted and the holes (although filled in with epoxy resin) are visible - see pic. A set of fender style tuners would sort this out nicely. In addition the previous owner fitted a string retainer with super glue (which has run a little too) and left a mark when removed - see pic. I was quoted £40 to re-finish the affected areas, I guess if you're a bit handy with the wet & dry you could do this yourself.

Priced to sell @ £350 and includes a Warwick Metal flight case

Collection or meet up preferred or can ship at cost.

Pm or call / text 07969 027813

Regards

6. Chaps.....

My 'old' U2 Tribute band is out there again.... !

Playing ploddy 8th notes and all that but having a blast doing it....

I know Adam Clayton isn't Victor / Stanley / Marcus etc but you know there's plenty of space to be heard and the Bass is really integral to a lot of the tunes, not horrible wall of guitars to contend with and the whole U2 thing is a great vehicle !

Some Vids from a recent gig at The Office in South Shields....

Bass is my Custom Jazz (made by Dave Wilson) with Aguilar Humcancelling pickups and Aguilar OBP2

AMP is Aguilar DB 751 with Aguilar GS412

Website is under development (nneds some updates) just now but if you feel inclined to look it's www.vertigou2.co.uk

Cheers

7. I used the 680/728 (see profile pic) with a pair of GS410's and it was simply the loudest amp I've ever heard.... Thick notes that you could reach out and touch !

Played a ton of shows with my U2 tribute band - Vertigo U2 and it never missed a beat !!

Long before Adam Clayton started to use Aguilar !!

Ultimately we were playing too often back then to lug that Rigg around 3-4 nights a week....

Now downsized to DB751/GS412 ;-)

There's some audio on www.vertigou2.co.uk

with the 680/728

Regards
