1. Don't know if anyone is following this thread anymore (least of all G30 users), but I have one coming and I'd like to use a different bass>transmitter cable (I favour right-angled jacks out of the bass). What's a comfortable cable length and I'll get an order in with our very own OBBM.

Cheers

See, told you they were great didn't I?

You did indeed sir, thanks! I may hunt down another one at some stage. My drummer plays bass in another band and he's already dropping hints at seeing whether I can do one for him if I can source a cheap donor Sunn.

3. Just having a sort out.

Set of four NEW semi-open-backed machines (with ferrules and screws) and an old Fender-esque bridge. The machine head ferrules require a 13mm hole. No screws for the bridge...sorry.

Make a donation of some kind to Basschat...nothing stupid, like a penny or anything (don't know how I check this so maybe the mods can let me know) and they're yours. The machines cost me £35 a few months ago and I'm never going to use them.

4. A couple of months ago I bought a Sunn Mustang bass from Bluesparky and following a brief exchange with Dave Vader, decided £25 was sufficient to kickstart my love affair with Precision style basses again.

I got a mate to collect, it arrived, sat in my garage for a couple of weeks while I waited for parts to arrive (everything on the body...owes me around £50) and for me to get my arse into gear and take a trip to Halfords for some paint. After a few evenings rubbing down, spraying, rubbing down, soldering etc. the results are below. I honestly can't express how much I love Wilkinson pickups...they're on my Hamer, my last Wolfgang Van Halenesque build and now this. Filthy.

Bolted the whole thing together and it worked straight off...no buzzing, no need to fix the intonation, action was spot on as well. It's like magic.

Anyhow, here it is:

EDIT:
(Sunday morning 11.30am). I just fired this up fully and I'm a little stunned to be honest. Maybe the mass of the body is contributory, but it sounds amazingly good especially considering the ££'s, very pleasing. I generally only utilise the power amp side of an Ashdown ABM using a Sansamp BDDI for my pre-amp shaping, then into the Hartke cabinets. With the Sansamp drive set to the mid-point, it's got raspy Foxton/Burnel quality and dare I say thumping through some YYZ, I can hear a bit of Geddy in there too. Well pleased.

5. If it helps with the sale, I worked on one of these for a mate a while back and I honestly I thought it was going to be rubbish. As it transpired, it played like a dream, was rock solid and despite the fact he wanted the original pickups swapped out, the originals were very hot and squeally (if there's such a word). It just refused to go out of tune. Two thumbs up for Sunn stuff.

6.
Hey guys, need to try raise £500 for a bass for sale.

I have a Shure PSM200 system for sale, no head phones included. £350
A Shure sm58, mint condition - £60
Gator 4u abs case - £40
Handmade XLR cables, VanDamme & Neutrik - from 1m to 30m. £5 & 70p per meter.

Cheers

7. I got one in a trade here a few years back (a 5HH) and to be honest, I didn't like it at all when I got it and it's been a long, slow burn. I really love it now. Adore it.

8. I'm 100% that you could get whole Mighty Mite bass/g**t*r kits about twenty/twenty-five years ago and they definitely has a MM waterslide logo on the headstock. Remember back then Carvin, Schecter and Mighty Mite were all in the same game; it was all licensed parts/kits.

9. I've been dipping into this thread on an off over the last ten months and have watched with horror how you've butchered this once beautiful Cruise bass and then have to front to compare the end product with a Westone...in hindsight all it probably needed a nice cuddle, a nice cup of tea and a small makeover.

Sorry, does nothing for me. Shame.

10. Some of you may know I was an early champion of Waterstone basses over here and tried my darndest to get some kind of distribution going. My first edition Tom Petersson 12-string gets regular trips out and after six years of bashing is holding up incredibly well and has never needed a single tweak...it's a huuuge bass.

I just got an e-mail from Rob in their artist endorsement department saying that any bass in the TP range (that's a 4/8/12 folks) are now available for $899, or a spit under £550. No reason why the $500 price drop...maybe they're overstocked, or maybe there's new version coming out...I just don't know, but what I do know it the current batch weigh about half that of mine, have some very funky finishes and also have pearl blocks on the board.

It's never been a better time to get a 12.
