1.
ive got be honest and say that the "mint green" one just looks like plain white to me, how about anyone else? I've no doubt it's just the pic though
Looks white to me as well. But I vote for black, not keen on mint green anything to be honest. :) Having said that I do have a Strat in surf green, which is pretty close.

  2. I am currently playing a Squier P Bass and I have to say I'm pleased with it, but I want to upgrade. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to really splash out. I would like to buy a Jazz and have seen the Fender Standard Jazz Bass® (Upgrade). What do you guys think of this? Is it worth having a look?

  3.
I tend to rest my thumb on the end of the neck, I did try a thumb rest but it got in the way. But like the others have said its personal preference and if it feels comfortable.
Tried that last night and what a revelation! It felt very comfortable, I prefer the sound you get and I think it looks cool too. Result! Why didn't I think of it? DOH!. So thank you for that. Thanks also for all your feedback, it's great to be able to pick your brains and feed off your experience. :)

  4. Recently started playing the bass and I'm just sort of trying to find my way of playing. At the moment I've just been resting my thumb on the pup, but it's beginning to get a bit sore as it's quite sharp around the edge and where it's screwed on. I've seen these thumb rests and wondered if anyone uses them, would recommend using one or should I just persevere and my thumb will toughen up, a bit like your fingers on your fretting hand.

    OMG that's horrible!

  6.
I think I've come home and found my ultimate huge sounding but portable rig for me and my bad shoulder. I do like the sound of a 15" and two is just nirvana!

Talk about eye candy, this is lovely and if it sounds as good as it looks! How much would this set you back if you don't mind me asking? Puts my 15W Fender Rumble in it's place for sure! :)

  7. Holy smokes, it's a minefield isn't it! Does the cable really make that much difference? I'm new to guitars in general and have just switched to the bass. I'm using a cable that I used on my strat and it sounds ok to my untutored ear, but would it make that much difference if I used a cable dedicated to bass (OBBM)?

  8.
I notice you're from Wiltshire, I've got the complete set of Bass Guitar Magazines, (from issue 1 to the current issue), you can have 'em for thirty quid if you collect them from Swindon
Andy, I know I said I was thirsty for knowledge, but that would be a bit too much in one hit, so I will decline. But thanks for the offer mate.

  9. Being new to the world of bass I'm thirsty for knowledge. Can you recommend any magazines relating to electric bass that I should have a look at. Also any you think I should maybe avoid. Many thanks

  10.
If you feel like you're losing them at any point, just get your willy out.
:) You could always just get your willy out right at the start, then no one will notice what the hell you are playing. ( As long as it's not your willy!!)

  11. trent900, thanks for your prompt reply. You have just confirmed what I was thinking really, that the 100W amp would be the one to go for. As I said it will only be used for practise in my bedroom.I will take your advice and go and have a bash on one. :)

  12. At the moment I am using a small Fender 15w Rumble amp. I want to upgrade to something more powerfull and like the Roland Cube. My question is would the 30w be enough? I only practice in my bedroom at present, but may one day, play in a band where I would presumably need more power. If I went down the 100w road, would that be too much? I know I needn't turn the volume up on the bigger amp but would that affect the sound adversely?

  13.
A lot of the budget copies are very good - Take the Boston P-bass packages at £80-90 brand new. Great for a beginner and better quality than a Squier Affinity.
That's just what I don't want to read having just bought a Squier Affinity! But I have to say I like it and I love that Fender shape. I expect my next bass will be a "proper" Fender, unless, of course, after getting some more experience with the bass I find something else I prefer.

  14. Hi, i'm brand new to bass and play a Squier Precision. I have no experience of other basses to compare, but I'm very pleased with it. Playing through a 15w Fender Rumble at the moment which will be the first thing I will change. How do you rate the 100w?

  15.
I'm thinking about going for something hideous like Surf Green - so bad it's good.
Hey! There's nowt wrong with surf green......This is my Strat :)

  16.
If you've found you love bass....keep your Squier.....got any pics? :)
Jase, no pics yet but will post as soon as I take some.

  17. Thanks everyone for your input. Luke FRC I hear you and that is sound advice. I do actually like my Squier
bass, but I'm playing through a 15w Fender amp, which isn't powerful enough really. So my first upgrade will be the amp, but I will hang on to the guitar for a while at least.
