  1. By 'digging in' I mean how hard I play. The gain is at just over a quarter, and the master at just before twelve. I do use vintage G&L's which are very powerful passive instruments though. By 'amp giving in' I think Alex meant the cab is drawing more power than the amp can supply.

    [/quote]Agreed, my Fridge breaks up musically when I dig in with the SVT CL but when I used that technique with the BT2 coupled with the SVT it damm near shut the cab down, I thought I'd killed it. Alex said it was the the amp giving in and not the cab, but I've used the SVT with many other cabs without issue, either way, not a good match.

I discussed the problem with Alex and his advise to me was the same as he gave to Paubass, he said ' your standing too close to it, put it right at the back off the stage and maybe angle it across'. I just want to put my rig behind me and Rock. It may well sound ok, but I'm not willing to pander to it's needs.

  5. We'll after a couple of Gigs the BT2 has been sent back. I've used quite a few different high end cabs with my rock band but this one got a unanimous thumbs down from everyone, mainly due to it being difficult to hear on stage and certain notes seeming to disappear on me. The projection however was almost too good, loud as hell out front, so much so I had nothing through the PA, a fellow Bass Chatter I know also had the same experience with this cab. I've now done what I should have done in the first place and bought a Berg.

  6. Tried the Berg and thought it was awesome but bought the Big Twin 2 because of all the hype and also because of the trial period. The BT2 sounded pretty good until I gigged it, it projects almost to well but difficult to hear if you're close to it and certain notes just seemed to vanish. I've gigged loads of different high end cabs with the Rock band I'm with at present and there was a unanimous thumbs down for the BT2. I know of another Bass chatter that had the same experience with the BT2. Needless to say it's gone back.

    I also ran these cabs together and agree with bumnote. I'm personally not a fan of using different sized drivers together as I think definition is lost due to the different excursion and projection they have, so why did I gig them both together I hear you cry, well, I used them with a Eden WT800 which has a built in crossover that used the cabs independently, lows to the 15 and mi/highs to the 4x10, Epic!

    Agreed, but do this whilst playing with your band as some of the the subtleties and [size=4][color=#222222][font=Arial]nuances you're dialing in may well dissapear once you play with the rest of the guys.[/font][/color][/size]

    I have'nt played one but I've watched Glenn Hughes play his quite a few times and it sounded great to me. As for VBA's, I think they're pretty good but I wonder if enough people agree as there has to be a reason that Marshall don't make Bass amps anymore and now owns Eden?

  12. I got my first late eighties SB1 about two years ago and ever since I've been selling my basses and replacing them with various vintage G&L's. I love them!
    I'm on the lookout for a smooth headstock L1000 in black or natural if anyone can help me out.
