1. I am using my Ampeg SVT 3 Pro to lay down a bass track, I am DI ing from the back of the amp, is it Ok to DI without connecting the amp up to speakers? Or can this do damage. Thanks Mike

3.
Are you sure your 410HLF is 4 ohms, and your other 1x15 cab is 4 also? If thats the case then the amp will be working into 2 ohms, which unfortunately it is n't designed to do.
Thanks for that. I think I might have confused you a bit. The rig I tried (4X10 and 1X15) were not mine they were both 8 ohms. So I was running at 4 ohms. I was just staggered how little master I had to use! (I normally feel through my HLF that I am almost out of head room.) So is this just through moving more air?? And as you say maybe need to consider a more powerful 4 x 10?? (quite like SWR goliath)
4. I use a Ampeg SVT 3 Pro with the Ampeg HLF 4 X 10 cab. Whilst this seems ok, I used the head with a 4 X10 cab and 1 x 15, both connected at 4 ohms and the power from the amp was awesome! Although this was adding approx another 300W from the 1X15 I was left thinking why such a huge difference in power output from the amp than my 4X10HLF on it's own? Normally I use it with master approx 4 O'Clock and Gain at 2 O'clock, with the extra cab the master was only at 9 O'clock and still being told to turn down!) Is this just how it is?? Mike
5. Nice one, do you add any eq on the amp, if so how do you have it set. Mike
6. Thanks some good food for thought there. I play a Rickenbacker 4003 and a Fender P. I have used a Zoom bass pedal for a bit of distortion. I just feel that if I need a bit more head room there isn't anywhere to go!! I understand the use of the tube knob I have it set at about 12 o clock, the sound I get I'm really quite happy with, that classic Ampeg sound but I just think for the power output it has I should have a bit more left in the bank. I haven't made much use of the eq though which I may try, any tips on settings (really like that JJ Burnel, Bruce Foxton Sound)? That maybe the answer. I have had a look at the Ashdown and Markbass gear looks pretty good! Mike
7. I have my SVT3 Pro through Ampeg 410HLF. So I should be getting 450W output. I have the gain set at about 5 to 12, just before clipping when I strike hard and master full. I sometimes think I just need a little more headroom, but seem to be at a bit of cul de sac - can't put up the gain anymore as it will clip and master is up full! I have tried adding attenuation with the -15DB button, but still with the master up full I cant say I notice any great difference. How can I get more out of the amp, I don't want a bigger cab (although have considered the 6X10). I play in a punk band with a pick. Any suggestions PLEASE!! Many thanks Mike
8. I have an Ampeg B410 HLF cab which I use with Ampeg SVT3 pro. I have the attenuation knob on the the back off, whats the best setting to have this on. I'm quite happy with my sound but just woundered what others do with the cab knob. Mike

PA DI

I am using an SVT 3 Pro through a B-410HLF. I also use a Zoom B2 pedal just for a bit of distortion and tuning this is just connected via amp input at front and guitar going into the Zoom. We are looking to put some guitars through our PA during gigs. Can I just use the line out from the back of the amp into the desk and if so will I get the effect from my Zoom B2 through the PA. If so should I use send / return for the Zoom? Or am I best to use a DI unit? straight from amp input?? Any help will be much appreciated. Mike
