  1. I can recommend "25 Essential Rock Bass Classics" - that's what I am using to learn.
There are Beatles tracks - Come Together & Paperback Writer - plus Cream, Kiss, Hendrix, Stones, Queen etc.
As a beginner, I am finding it easy to follow.
Note this does not mean I find actually playing is easy!!

I was planning on being the first thicko originally, but then decided it was better to use Google. So now I know!

I scorn your god Google and rely solely on rumour and overheard goss...

To be fair to Royal Mail, you probably receive a lot more items from them than via courier, so the number of problems will seem higher than the problems with a courier. But going on percentages then the problems via courier with probably be higher.

(In this case you is meant as plural, not specifically you)

Hmmmm, yes. A case of statistics showing you what you want them to show...

  4. The last time I played in space, the acoustic did not work at all due to the lack of a gas medium to transmit the string vibrations through.
I plugged in the electric and it worked fine as the strings moved normally through the magnetic field around the coils. Had more sustain due to the lack of friction against the strings, as I recall...

  5. On the 'used' subject, I have bought two guitars - yeah, sorry - from Cash Converters. They are apparently definitaly not nicked and they do take stuff back if it is faulty. They don't know much about instruments, though...

  6. I know what you mean about second hand. The problem there for the shop is ensuring they do not by nicked stuff. Once the local herberts are in the know, the retailer has a constant flow of dodgy gear coming through the door.
It's a very similar story with bicycles.
