There are loads of ways of doing it, some of them more complex than others.
The easiest one is to just use an ON-OFF-ON switch - that central 'OFF' point will be thud free.

Brilliant! simple but effective, a bit like me. (Except I don't seem to have developed the effective bit yet)

  2. yep you were right! It was a connection that was at fault, causing the problem. Durrr, assumed it was the active input because it was the new element in the equation!

Out of interest though, if I put a switched resistor in line with the volume pot would that work like a volume cutter/active switch? So say would a resistor half the value of the volume pot halve the total volume?

  3. Bought a G&L Tribute L2000 off him today. Nice friendly guy (and his missus too) and he sold it to me for a good price. No hesitation in recommending him to you all!

I'm very happy but I don't think my missus will be now she'll see even less of me :)

  4. Hi everyone!

I'd built a ruby amp with the bassman mods and it's been working fine with my bass with passive pickups by now I've started using a bass with active pickups it doesn't cope at all.

It just produces very loud clicks unless the bass is turned almost zero volume and then it's mostly hiss with tiny bit of bass.

I'm assuming it's because the input level is just too much. Does anyone know of a mod that will allow active input?

Any help or advice very gratefully appreciated!

You may want to consider the Fusion F1 too, perhaps.

I almost bought the Protec Contego a couple of weeks ago but chose the F1 instead and love it. Good protection, lots of pockets and very comfortable

Arghh! Just as I thought I'd decided you throw something else into the equation!

Found the one you mentioned on Gak for £115, now I've got to choose one or the other.

  6. Hi all!

I have an amp that is great but what would make it better would be a mute switch.

I'm assuming it's a case of wiring a switch from the input Jack if I only want to mute the input or I'm thinking I could put a switch before the speaker output?

I want to avoid the speaker popping when switching so would something along the lines of a millennium switch type wiring help avoid this?

    Any advice much appreciated!
