    Yes. I bought one and sent it back the next day, pickup was quite strong with plenty of power and it was light so lovely..... not. I couldn't get on with the neck and it just felt cheap so bye bye.

    If they are anything like their amps, I wouldn't bother....

    Congratulations on your purchase. I love Squiers too.
    Perhaps we could turn your question around.
    How do some manufacturers get away with charging so much?

    No idea. I am sure there are better woods, more refined dimensions, better electrics etc. But when I am blasting through cheap cables into a dodgy old Marlin X150 head, I don't think many punters could tell if it was a Stagg or a Wal.

    if you get chance to hear the Backbeat soundtrack or the Beatles live in Hamburg album (wonder when that'll get the digitally remastered and re-released treatment?), I think you might agree that they weren't a million miles away from punk

    Hamburg Beatles were just all trying to be Gene Vincent from what I gather.

  4. I needed a cheap back up bass as I shall be joining a band come the end of the week. I picked this up for 80 quid.

    Its a Squier Affinity P-Bass in midnight blue metallicky kind of colour. Made in Indonesia with a IC08 serial. It sounds and plays lovely for a cheapy and seems to have a substantial chuck of wood for a body. It still baffles me that Squier can make such amazing instruments at such a low cost.

    Last night I played a short solo acoustic spot at The Road Test in Banbury, which is a brilliantly diverse open mic event organised by Freddy Le Cragg of this parish. I did three original songs, just me and my Tanglewood acoustic straight into the PA. I used to play there on a monthly basis but once the band got busy I had less time to attend, but with the band on a summer break I've got time to do my own thing. I missed it!

    It's official;

    BC is really convincing me the whole Beatle thing has always been bigger and more important to us baby boomer yanks than the English.

    With all the negativity I can't help but wonder if The Beatles did something to the English I don't know about?

    Yes

    They stood on a stage and sang, then they sat in a studio and sang.

    They didn't invent a cure for cancer or instigate world peace.

    They were just a band. Even John Lennon himself said so.
