Early era neck through Warwick's like this are unparalleled, they sound fantastic.

Looks like a crack in the body, on the third picture, just above the E-string close to the bridge, maybe just a scratch ?

Here we have an early model Warwick Thumb Through Neck Bass from 1988. (The Thumb was first produced in 1985.)

Made in November 1988 with a Wenge wood neck with original Mother of Pearl inlays, Wenge fingerboard with bronze Frets & brass 'Just-a-Nut', three-piece solid Bublnga body, oil finish polished with Beeswax, active JJ EMG pickups and MEC 2-band preamp & black Schaller hardware.

Lovely bass for its age, with an unbelievably fast neck. All electronics working, and only damage we can see is two screw holes where a Thumb Rest has previously been added.

    Price is £2400.

This bass can be viewed (or played) by appointment at either Ashton-under-Lyne in the Manchester area, or in Derbyshire, 10 mins from M1 J25.

Buyer to collect, or can meet half way up to 100 miles distance. (200 miles total distance.)

Interesting trades considered - PM me pictures of any trades you may want to make towards this instrument.

It's only geography that's stopping me.

TKS is King  CAB's, just enjoyed mine, way better than many top brands, if you like a very clear sound, (it's easy to make a clear cab sound less clear, but not the other way around) My TKS cab is clear as a bell, and makes it pretty flexy, what you put in you get out, choice of bass/ tecniq/ playing, amp, love to have this pair, looks crazy inzanely good

Great cabs not being used at the minute as I’ve just been running an anagram and in ears so no use for what I think is a belting rig (this and a th500). They’re in good condition with just a few marks here and there. Includes a cover for each.

I’ll be looking to get a cheap amp/cab for emergencies as I'm selling my amp head too so willing to do a deal if someone has a cheaper rig they’d like to part ex.

    any questions fire away.

  4. Who ever get this pair of creamy speakers, will be rewarded with a clear & tight sound, is my guess ? (I have a different model TKS. not much comes close to the quality of the sound, when paired with a top of choice, very very clear & tight)

Your line of questioning was a bit odd and if you read any of my posts elsewhere you'll see I frequently use the word 'subjective' when making comparisons, simply because I know what may appeal to me would be abhorrent to others.

Simply because I say the Bongo was fantastic (it ticked so many boxes), I shouldn't need to have to justify that to you by providing a list of instruments by way of validation.

Sorry for insulting you, that was not my intend ,I hope you accept my apologies (i haven't read any other post's from you other that the debate here about 5

    Mr Potato,

    If you're after a list of my top 5 of everything I've owned;

    MusicMan Bongo 5HH (gone)

    Mike Lull JAXT4 (still here)

    Hamer Cruisebass (still here)

    Spector Euro-X (still here)

    Gibson Thunderbird (Ivory) (gone)

I could likely list you another 20 basses that I'm either still in ownership of OR have sold on to fund purchases, if that lights your candle.  Just because they're gone doesn't mean they weren't - for me at least - sterling instruments.

Search hard enough on this site and you'll find documented proof of most of my kit, past and present.

It's so different what players think is a good bass and, sometimes a cheap bass can be a good bass for individuals, same with more pricy basses, for me a good 5 can be real hard to find do to the B-string is a challenge for a lot of builders, but standard is getting better with time, for me the best cheap 5 would be a Skyline of any kind since they are pretty high in standards (for my taste) I was just curious that someone that had loads of axses would rate a bongo that high since I would not according to the ones I tried,  setup  means everything some Luithers are magicians some not, if  you want a cheap 5 and lets say it have to be a Sire Marcus Miller just make sure that you can try a "Truckload" of them there will be a good chance that one in the bounce will speak to you

It’s arrived!! It’s properly great, super happy! Headroom and tone in a light package. Switching to light stuff a few years ago meant a loss in perceivable headroom. The Bullhead has retrieved this. Seems to take anything it’s given and makes it sound epic.

So far have tried it with an F bass, Sadowsky and vintage precision. They all

sound great through this amp and it’s maintained their character.

@j.wolf is right, so much head room

that you get the heft and weight back in to your sound that I’ve missed since having a db750. It sounds clearer and more focussed than the DB750, but has the same weight to each note.

Taking it with me tonight, will report back.

What's the cap under the top ?

  9. The look of the maple neck wood got similarity with alder, I would say the neck looks like classic alder, I guess it's not so often you see maple with this pattern of brown "stripes" in the wood ?
