I suggest it might depends on the music you're playing. Pub rock and Mustang Sally? I would too. But anything with soul, RnB etc. and there's no reason to be concerned. Of course, you could always not worry about the opinions of people you don't know... ;)

I go on stage a few nights a week with my Fodera YYS and my Alembic epic and play Alt rock/thrash. I've never felt like an idiot!

2. Hi folks,
Some will be repulsed at the idea but I'm willing to pay someone to refinish my Sadowsky, it's a MV5 tobacco burst and I'm after it going to a trans black, (I like the grain of the swamp ash) or if not a refin I'm still thinking about a nice worn in/relic look. This bass has enormous sentimental value so don't "your crazy, value?! Money?!" Yada yada yada, I'm taking this one to my grave so I'll be doing with it what I fancy.

Can anyone recommend me a decent uk based luthier who will handle this situation with care?
I love this bass more than my Fodera believe it or not, just has more mojo..maybe because it's been excessively beaten...
*rambling.

Thanks in advance!

There has been an Alembic Persuader maybe thats what was meant.
Actually there are a few black alembics around.
I have one made in 2009 i think and FC spoiler does also.

I'm dam jealous Jazzyvee mind if I asked how much it cost you? A limb? There were Persuaders and spoilers, I thought Alembic had a Crusader model? Maybe not and could of been the Persuader I meant, not sure myself! XD

4. I'm still after one for the same reason, Orions, Elans, Spoilers and Crusders are definitely not the lower end of the range mate. Epics are the lower end, which I own one, but not as physically appealing as a black spoiler or Élan. I'd give my Fodera for one of them..

5. Decided to sell my Trace Elliot twin valve head as I'm not using it much anymore. As you can see it's quite well worn in, I bought this from the original owner a few years back. As you can see it has abit of battle damage, it was built on 13.03.90 according to the label inside so she's a good 24 years old and still going strong. She works all fine, very clean inside and the valves are fairly fresh. I put this at the low price because a few of the levers broke off obviously from the original owner not being careful enough, it's honestly no worry though I know it looks like you can't alter them, but the slightest bit of fingernail you can.

This is a great old amp and a workhorse to be honest, I would describe the tones as very warm, creamy and well voiced, very typical awesome trace tone but with some vintage mojo in there too!

Specs are here. As to reliability I've not owned one, so can't tell you. :)

The unbalanced line out puts me off slightly

7. So I go travelling next weekend and I figured it's about time I got a new amp head or a good portable travel amp, I really want something between £200-£400 that has an Aux in too. I've been looking around and really not seen much that takes my fancy or much that I'd deem very easily portable. I was hoping for some suggestions and advice, help!?
