Which Kay...?
In order: 59 Kay 5965, 59 Dallas Tuxedo, '63 Jolana Basora, '65 Kay 5920 'Speed Demon', '65 Hofner President, '65 Kay 5961 'Value Leader', '65 Harmony H-22
I wish it was a clever comment, but it wasn't. I do need info as it seems. Thank you!
I meant the one on the left. Actually that's the only one I could identify.
And the Hofner President.

Sweet indeed. If I got to pick one (hehe) it'd be the Kay.

In fact the main reason I play bass is because of Queen
Same here. "Dragon Attack" did it for me.

Very cool! Very Dusty, if you know what I mean!
I do know what you mean. Dusty was the idea ...

You can get a complete HB bass for less than what you'd pay for a Warmoth neck. Only problem is what to do with the spare HB body...

You guys that have modded your Harley Bentons, did you have any issues with the neck pockets with replacement necks? I have a HB Fretless Jazz and I have been keeping my eye out for a HB Precision neck or other P bass neck so that I can get more use from the bass. I just cant get on with Jazz width nut and fretless is of limited use in my current band.
I swapped necks on different HB basses: put a fretless Jazz neck onto the PB50 body, the fretted PB50's neck onto the Jazz body, then I got a lefty Jazz neck for the PB50, as mentioned above. I found the neck heels and pockets do fit, but the neck bolts are not aligned. You need to fill the holes in the neck heel drill new ones.

has anyone done this?
I did. I put a lefty HB Jazz neck on my PB50 body. Sounds good!

If i am gonna take the mexican path, i think that i prefer the Dirnt...
A cool bass for sure, but I don't like the split coil pup. A mid 50s Fender has to have a singlecoil pup. But that's just me, the vintage nut.

You leave my hole career out of this.
Sorry, I'm no native speaker (or writer). Here's the missing --> W <-- for you to put in...

LaBella FLs are the best but they're bloody expensive.
No they're not. Actually they're the the cheapest strings because you need to buy them only once in your hole career...

How long until they re-issue the '55 P - single coil pickup, contourd ash body, 2TS finish? That's the perfect design. As far as I'm concerned, there was no need to re-invent the Precision Bass in 1957.

Now that's a universe I definitely DON'T want to be part of.

Had all my amps and cabs in the house this week and used the opportunity to take a family shot:
The basses and amps are quite self-explanatory.
A few word about the cabs:
- The Tweed cab to the left is a DIY 1x15" sporting a Jensen 50 Watt C15N.
- The cab behind the Dingwall is a Sieben Audio Design 15/8 with Fostex speakers.
- The Music Man cab is the version with EVM12L speakers - this cab sounds fantastic with the low wattage tube amps and Fender basses. Only downside is the weight to which the monstrous magnets of the EVM12L's contribute about 80% I guess...

These look to be cheaper than all the others I’ve seen out there, has anyone tried one? Not sure whether to spend a little bit more to avoid disappointment, but cheap, buy twice and all that!

I got one and I like it. It gets the job done. I cannot see why one should pay 3 or 4 times the amount to get a Kala.

Personally, I find the Peavey Classic 20 quite interesting (I really like tweed):

Another little AllValve Amp: Klemt Echolette BS40
Sounds like a litte Fender Bassman...
The BS40 sounds AT LEAST as good as a Bassman 50.
If you need/want a valve amp just for practice at home, honestly I think any small (i.e. 5 to 20 watts) guitar amp will do. There's plenty of them on the market.

Pound for pound, what's the best P bass?

I'd say go for the '66. I'm a vintage Fender nut so I'm biased of course.
