  1. Welcome to BC - you'll enjoy yourself here and probably spend more time that you intend reading the forums.

Yep, cheap doesn't = rubbish like it did when I first started playing. If you value your bank account though stay away from the For Sale section or GAS will decimate it before you can blink. :D

  2. Welcome! :-) I'm sure you'll find everything bass-related you'll ever need here.

Just stay away from the For Sale section if you want to avoid major GAS :-)

I've got a (German) Corvette too - just so so comfortable to play :-)

  3. Welcome aboard, Ben :)

Like you, I was a long time lurker and spent hours just reading the forums for reviews etc before I joined up properly. It's a great place with lots of friendly people.

    Warning!
Beware of the For Sale forums - it can cause major GAS leakage from your bank account! :o

    Have fun

Nice acquisition sir. Two PJ pups? How does that sound? Is there a great deal of difference between the two pickups in terms of sounds?

    Thanks, FunkyDunky :-)

I haven't had a proper chance to see what she sounds like in a playing situation or at any decent volume yet. My first impression is that this thing is alive with resonance! I'll have a much better idea of how she responds in a band situation at rehearsal next Thursday - can't wait!

These are two sets of P pickups in a 'mirror' position. Passively either pickup gives a very deep resonating 'piano' sound in the lower notes and great singing clarity higher up. With my other Warwicks I tend to blend just a touch of bridge pickup into the neck position for the sound I'm after, so I'll probably end up doing the same with this one. I haven't had a proper play with active settings yet.

  5. It's been a couple of years since I've imported a guitar from the USA. Maybe the taxman has tightened up more now but I've had hit and miss experiences where sometimes I've been charged a lot and sometimes a big parcel has arrived at my door with nothing to pay.

    Sweeeeet.
I'm hoping to secure a Buzzard bolt on 5 er this evening .....with a little luck.

Thanks - she is a real beauty isn't she! :-)

Good luck with your Buzzard hunt this evening and please post some pics :-)

    Wow...very nice. Well done!
    [/quote]

    :-) Thanks!

She was way out of my price range initially but the price got dropped, I sold some gear to find her ... you know the story :-)

That's a beauty! Personally, I am not generally partial to Explorer-shaped basses, but this one Rocks!

Thanks :-) I'm not usually overly keen on anything very pointy but this one just set my GAS alight big time :-) She sounds as good as she looks but I need to grow an extra long left arm now to reach the end of the neck :-)

  9. Warwick Stryker bought from a fellow BassChatter - it's awesome!

I hope Andy doesn't mind me using one of his pics because I haven't had chance to take decent piccies myself

  10. I always make a point of keeping my nails short on my right (picking) hand otherwise I can sometimes get an unwanted clang as nail hits string. But as others have said, it's a matter of technique because different fingers will have different strength impact on the strings until muscle memory takes over with practice.

  11. Yep, I'm with everybody else on this one. If the love isn't there any more, move her on to someone else who will play her. I know it's hard to let go sometimes but you'll prob be glad of the money to put towards another GAS object of desire sometime.

I just sold a couple of amps that I didn't use but wanted to keep for nostalgia and 'just in case' but I'm so pleased with the Warwick Stryker that they helped fund which arrived today (thanks to a BassChatter)
