1. Hi, is your Fishman platinum still available? It is the bass one isn't it not the guitar version? Thanks very much Kate
2. Hi Shaun Could I come and see it? I've just started having jazz double bass lessons and would like to buy one but am a bit ignorant about what to look for. I'm trying to get more informed but I think you're right that it must be about trying them out. And I'm in Sheffield! Regards Kate
3. thank you all what a great welcome! is it something about bass players that you are all so nice and friendly? I'll get hunting, thanks for those suggestions. It would certainly good to be able to have one for more than odd borrows, to get familiar with. Cheers Kate
4. Hi all I'm a very new DB player in Sheffield i.e. one lesson, one instruction book (on order), and no DB so no practice so far! But I'm keen. I've played violin for many years in orchestras and recently mainly in quartets and other small groups with friends. Just for fun. I'm still doing that but my DB ambitions are to play jazz. I would love to get good enough to play with other people if they'll have me. I think some of the skills are transferable although I am looking forward to it being a departure from what I'm used to especially being tied to written music. I like a very wide range of music including a wide range of jazz including quite traditional but just recently I have been really enjoying some stuff like Michael Wollny's trio, Esbjorn Svensson Trio and Portico quartet. In fact saw Michael Wollny this week in Manchester and wow they were so cool - Eva Kruse on DB, check them out on youtube or spotify eg Wasted and Wanted, Sov Lilla Alma and their version of Kraftwerk's the Model. So my problem is getting an instrument to practise on. Any suggestions? Borrowing, renting or even buying? Kate
