"will be great"...and won't be cheap!

But then if folk are prepared to pay 3Leaf prices then fair enough, there's demand for a quality filter  (although did anyone mention EBS recently? 😅)

That thought then just made me wonder how common filters are on pedal boards? We're probably going to agree that drive/fuzz will be be the most common effect, but would filters come in second? Or get pipped by chorus and octavers? Dunno!

(I'm not thinking of EQ and compression/limiters as being "effects" in this context).

I think some of of us may have mentioned EBS recently 😝

And certainly not the most common effect on the vast majority of people’s boards even in genres that they might otherwise be associated with. I’d imagine that octavers would be second most common after dirt and then modulation (chorus, phaser etc.)……filters a distant fourth.

But it’s so genre specific and it takes only one intrepid player/band to bring it (back) into fashion. In the hip hop/electronica world, Thundercat comes to my mind as a player who has made the filter and phaser so en vogue within that genre that any player - myself included - will want to emulate that sound; as well as make it more acceptable to other musicians and general listenership alike.

Also getting slightly back on topic for this thread, I love the EBS but have been revisiting the 3LEAF over the weekend and deconstructing some Thundercat; filters are just fun! Also, my revisiting the 3Leaf was due to my having made the decision to sell…..just to assure myself that I’m making the right decision!

This is what I put together; three separate bass tracks with two featuring a filter and one dry track.

Yep, lots of presets on this and good amount of knobs and switches.

Look forward to this release. Owning the C4 and having tried the Iron Ether extensively, the gap between analogue and digital has definitely closed in my mind but something that moves this even closer will be great.

It’s something I’m beta testing at the moment and is digital. Can’t spill the beans yet. Will reveal when permitted.

Along with beta testing and general product development, I think company’s also need to offer you remuneration for your helping with their marketing strategy! Haha!

Whatever it is, it sounds identical to the Microtron….and I want one!

Any hints as the company…..can’t be Source Audio surely. Does it rhyme with bleris? 😉

  4. I’ve a lot of love for the EBS. I have quite a few filters including a 3Leaf Proton and the C4 and EBS is the one I reach for most often. The dynamic high pass filter is what sets it apart from other filters I think.

  5. This is a very nice analogue phaser. In pretty much as new condition with box.

I got this to see if I like phasers. Turns out I do and have since gotten several others….so this is surplus.

£25 including postage to your door.

I can knock a fiver off if collected.

  7. These are ridiculously good. I’ve tried many phasers and this is the one I always come back to.

They can do the Phase 90 thing in the 4-stage setting; and can get very swirly and juicy on other settings which include an 8-stage and 18-stage phase!!

Also incredibly versatile with the internal  controls that allow changes to gain, centre frequency, and the number of stages. You can also choose between Sine or Triangle wave which really change the character of the sound. I just wish EBS had made some of these controls external!

Unlike most other phasers, this was very much made with bass in mind and has a low frequency bypass filter for untouched lows. It means that you don’t get an overwhelming amount of low end as it cycles through the phase which other phasers suffer from. Very nifty.

These have been discontinued and this is a great price! Someone will get a great phaser at a bargain price!

    Good luck with sale!

  8. This looks really interesting. Taking inspiration from the Bi-phase?

I’ve never thought to run two envelope filters in parallel. The Aguilar filter twin is the only thing I can think that does something similar.

  9. I’m having to let go of all my long scales due to wrist issues which is a particular shame given how much I love the look of this bass. The Thunderbird-esque pickups sounds fantastic too so much so I’m seriously contemplating a custom short scale build with these pickups!

The bass is in mint condition and still has one of the pick-up stickers attached. Weight is 3.8kg

    Full spec below:

I’ve made some modifications to address several shortcomings from stock and include:

    1. Hipshot licenced Elephant Ear tuners

    2. Upgraded volume and tone pots

    3. 4-way rotary pick up selector by Dingwall offering neck/series/parralel/bridge. The output when in series is HOT!

    4. Chrome knobs by John East

The wiring was completed by Alan at ACG guitars and the installation was completed by the Bass Gallery in London who also fitted the turners and completed a full set-up. All work expertly done.

    Collection from Reading/London.

Happy to ship +£20. I also have a new Thomann hardcase that I can include for shipping purposes for an additional £50. I’m always reluctant to ship without a hardcase!

Will also accept trades for various pedals! Some ideas below -

    Meris Hedra/Polymoon/Mercury 7

A preamp - Origin Effects, Capo, EBS Microbass, Nordy Starlifter or similar

    Origin Effects Cali

    Future Impact

    HX Stop

    Strymon Zelza

    Eventide H9

Anything by 3Leaf or Iron Ether

This is a video of the actual bass -

    And some YouTube reviews:

Any questions, please feel free to ask. Always welcome to pop along and try it out if you happen to be in the area.

Looks good! I'm not surprised you're busy with the C4, that pedal is a sound designers dream. Any interest in a direct swap for the Hamstead Soundworks Odyssey? Full disclosure it's the guitar version, not the Subspace which is the one with the blend knob for bass but it's still an incredibly versatile drive/boost/EQ pedal. Drop me a DM me if you want some pics or have any questions about it!

Hampstead Works make such great pedals and the Subspace is fantastic. I think I’d need that clean blend but I’m sure the Odyssey sounds great too!
