1. Hello,

I am after a new distortion pedal to replace my MXR Blowtorch (it finally died after being on life support for 2 years!)

I have looked at the Xotic BB Bass Preamp/Distortion and the Aguilar Argo Pedal. Both sound pretty good.

Any other suggestions or experiences with these pedals would be great!

Thanks
:)

2. I have not long bought one myself, only had it a few weeks and its only been used at practice. I found that getting the sound you want can be a challenge so its best to avoid the graphic eq to make major changes to your sound, that being said I do use it to tweak my overall sound if required.

A good amp with a very good sound, though I do miss my Ashdown EVOII which seemed to have a bit more character to the sound. You might want to look into getting one of those as well.

3. Hi everyone,

I am looking at maybe purchasing a new bass. I have looked at the usual suspects (fender and gibson) and thought about ESP. Has anyone owned or currently own one?

These are the 4 I have looked at;

Also while I remember, what do people make of the Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Basses? I am running an SVT3 Head and 410HLF Cab and play hard rock in my band

Any help/opinions will be appreciated

4. I used to own one and yes they are heavy but they do get a good sound. I did find for bigger venues the sound got muddied a little bit, but to avoid this just boost the mid a touch and it would be fine.

Well built and will handle pretty much any amp out there.

5. I own an ABM 500 II and I love it.

I started using it in my old punk band but use it now for more hard rock.

It can get some quite heavy sounds if messed about with, I used mine with an Ampeg HLF 4X10 and it sounds immense.

If you want to spend some serious money you can get their all valve stuff. BTA 400 is an example. I haven't heard one of these though.

6. Hi guys, I have owned one of these for a fair while http://www.dv247.com/guitars/epiphone-thunderbird-iv-goth-bass--37231?gclid=CJKjof-albYCFeXLtAodTEkAIg

I am looking to replace the pick-ups to something better but struggling to find anything, maybe I am looking in the wrong places.

Any Suggestions? I would be running it with an ABM EVOII 500 and my Ampeg HLF410

Cheers

7. Here is the sound I had kicking about from my Ashdown @ the last gig I did, you might not be able to make it out. or

I go for quite a grungy sounding bottom end. Little bit Soundgarden esque actually. I am quite fussy and like the midrange to punch through the mix.

Think Tim Commerford from early audioslave days actually.

Oh and check out the recording in my band, I used an SVT-Pro3 as my Ashdown was in for service. www.soundcloud.com/latenightenvy

8. Good evening,

I recently purchased an Ampeg 410 HLF and I am looking into the idea of getting a new amp head.

I have looked at the SVT-CL and the Orange ADB200. I was looking for other suggestions to these as well. I have a budget second hand of around £650.

Suggestions welcome

Cheers

PS I play in a hard rock/metal band and my sound, so looking for a sound around that sort of genre
