Paint job? A good friend of mine in Birmingham. Website is on the picture - http://www.outofthisswirled.com/ and I think the current cost for a bass body is about £250 coated and polished. He is the daddy at swirls - his clearcoating is flatter than flat (no ripples) and it shines like mad.
thanks for the info mate....oooops,bump!

  2.
That's correct. Bernie had more bodies sent over because some of the bodies that were shipped weighed an absolute bomb. If I recall, the heaviest body that was ever sent, weighed 15lb by itself - completely unacceptable. Each body and neck was then handpicked to go together, reassembled and setup by Bernie.

I believe there is still a collection of jazz body shaped ballast sitting in his basement.
cheers for the info mate...would defo explain why this ksd plays so well and doesn't break my back!!
that paint schemes awesome.....how much and where from?.....

  3.
Hi mate, can you tell me the exact weight of the bass.
    Cheers.
looks to be about 9lbs ....i know some ksd's had a weight issue..i bought mine direct from bernie at gb i know he hand picked this one for me.i believe he sent some back as he felt they were too heavy....think ebs freak can back me up on that one?

  4.
Great price!
That Stingray is an awesome colour - if it had a maple fingerboard I would have jumped on it myself.
saw it ages ago, loved the colour, but not with that board........but at £695,probably would have grown on me..lol.

  5. looking to move this one on..had it since brandnew, about 12 months..it's just not getting the use.my status and gb are hogging my gig time!! comes with hardcase and the original black scratch plate(if i can find it)..the pearl effect one in the pics is a custom peice, that would cost about £40?? to have made.the bass is imaculate, the action is superb and it has a great modern jazz sound.
idealy i'd like to get £475 but may consider trades for a maple necked stingray/sterling,with cash your way..let me know what you got.

Fernandes used to make some very good copys!...they had one of these in the Manchester Bass centre before it shut....very close to an Alembic (fernandes were actually threatened with court proceedings)...This is only the second one of these i have ever seen....doubt theyll be many!.
the one in the bass centre in manchester was mine.....loved it...but it was a weighty beast so it went in a part ex deal for some eden gear...i bought it from the bass centre in london many moons ago, second hand then too.after shelling out for "the real deal" a few years agao i realised just how bloody good the old fernandes was!!sounded more like an alembic than my alembic did..honest!!

I have a Markbass LMII and a Augilar GS112 (which I have only had a couple of weeks). In practices with a loud drummer and a not very loud guitarfairy, my little cab is being driven to its limits, and altough I am getting a very clear and articulate sound, it lacks bottom end sufficient to fill the air.

However, at a pub gig on Thursday I used my little rig and it was just loud enough, with room to spare should I need - so the rig has its uses, but I need to be able to add something to give me some extra booty.

The obvious path is to add another GS112 or GS112NT, but will I get the extra bottom end I'm after? They are 8 Ohm cabs so I'd end up with a 4 Ohm load and extra headroom I guess so that would be good. But will I just get the same sound but louder? Or will it be a case that I now have loads more of Bass, Mid and Trebble, so to get the percieved increase in Bass compared to the single 112 cab do I turn down the Mid and Trebble?

Other option, get a 2x12 or 4x10 cab, 4 Ohm and use that instead, and use my GS112 for quieter things? In which case I'd want to buy used, and have seen a EBS Neo 2x12 on here that I fancy...

    Any suggestions?
pm'd ya mate......

got a neo 2x12 and proline 4x10 for sale......

  8.
Have a look at the older VBass which is a floor-based box.
cheers fella...i was thinking more about a single pedal that just did the musicman sound and a seperate pedal for the ricki sound..rather than all the other guff i will never wanna use....just think they would sell a ton of em!

  9. just been looking at this bit of kit....some great functions.the musicman and ricki syms sound great...but i know i would never use this to it's full potential. what i'm wondering is why roland don't do a stomp style box with these syms onboard....

  10. i hadn't gigged my gb(daphne ,lol)for a while....was gutted to find the drummer hadn't left anything like enough room for me on the tiny stage.this weekend.so i had to use the (shhhhhhhh) status again this weekend....spoke to berny a while back about bunging the single coils in her,i think i'd miss the bright/slapswitch too much though...anyone anythoughts?

oh and poms(lee pomeroy) now plays bass for it bites, when not on duty with take that....saw him in york using a black ray....great player!

  11.
I've always liked that bass, ever since I first saw it on Statii.com. There's one very like it on the stock bass pages of the Status website at the moment.
cheers rich..the pictures don't realy do it justice.....think the one on the status site is a silver one.
