1.
There's n amp shout out on youtube of the Ibanez head against a Genz Benz and TC:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCnC0n4txgA
had a listen on youtube, can't say i'm digging the tone. I much prefer the tone from the Genz benz, and my GK. That punchy slap tone.

I also think it will be underpowered for my needs, i play in a black metal 5-piece band.

I'll have a look at some Epifani amps, but i need to find a used amp. so far no one's even made me an offer on my FS/FT thread (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=81854) which is a bit weird because GK's usually get a lot of attention.
Ibanez Promethean - half the price of Mark Bass but just as good, just as powerful, head comes away from the combo to be used with other cabs as required, extremely well made and rugged, small, light and portable. You can even get a gig bag for it....
this is the one your talking about, right? http://www.dv247.com/guitars/ibanez-p500h-promethean--64359

never seen that before, ibanez arn't really known for their amps. not sure what I think of the red faceplate, the amp looks like it should be at least £100 less, for that money might as well buy a markbass. Theres not much info on it, no view of the back either.

Nice find though, always good to broaden the spectrum of amps out there

  3. Hey guys,

I've decided to move on from my GK 1001RB-II (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=81854) in favour of a lightweight head.

I had my heart set on the GK MB-500 as I love the GK tone, but i've heard there were problems with it, and since i'm looking to buy used, I'd rather not risk it.

Another option is Markbass, but theres just somthing about Markbass that doesn't appeal to me... not quite sure what it is though!

Any recommendations, or stay-away-froms' will be much welcome!

    cheers

As I said these items are sold, I put them up on behalf of another and the items aren't mine or in Kendal.

So far as I'm aware the sale is definite and there's quite a queue of people who are also definite if they aren't sold :)

You put "as far as i'm aware", therefore there could have been a chance that it was still available. no harm done in asking, right?

  5. SOLD

    Hi guys,

Up for sale/trade is my GK 1001RB-II. This amp needs no introduction. 700 LOUD watts, infamous GK sound. Check out their site for the full specs: www.gallien.com

I love it to bits, and it works flawlessly, and man is it loud, but it's just a bit too heavy for me to continually take it everywhere by public transport (don't have a car) along with my bass and bag of effects. Saying that, it's not that heavy at around 10kg, but I guess I'm just not very strong. So for that reason, and that reason alone, it's up for sale/trade.

I'd rather trade it with someone for a lightweight amp, but if it ends up being sold, I'll probably be looking for around £450. It's in great condition, no scratchy pots, it's never been properly gigged, just used at home and at band practice. It's never been driven it to the max (its darn loud), it's been kept in a smoke free, pet fee house.

Here are some pics of my GK, as you can see, great condition.

    PM me if interested!

  6. Immaculate condition, hardly ever used.

Costs about £80 new, I'm looking to get £60.

  7. hey,

i got a 2x10 cab rated for 400W, and am putting about 200W through it with my amp.
when i crank the volume, the speakers will move a considerable amount, even if i play quietly. But if i start slapping while the volume is turned up, the speakers go crazy and i'm worried one of these days they will just tear or something. They are paper after all...

Is it safe for speakers to move a lot, or should they just move a little under load?

    cheers

  8. hey guys,

im really worried about my cab. Basically, i usually play with the tweeter completely off, but someone said it will burn up the crossover, so lately i've had the tweeter on a tiny amount.
anyways, in the past few days ive noticed that the tweeter (i think) is making a weird crackly sound. At least i think its the tweeter, maybe it could be the woofer though i dont think so.
any ideas what this could mean? is my tweeter busted?

its a Warwick WCA 211 Pro cab - this one: http://www.warwickbass.com/modules/produkt...25296&cl=EN

    thanks for any help
