  1. Hello everyone

Today I managed to break one of the tuners of my 1985 JD Thumb fourstring while simply trying to replace the tuning peg ...

I have to replace the whole tuner now but since the bass is from 1985 it uses those old Schaller M4 tuners.

Long story short I would like to replace all 4 tuners with new tuners, or, if possible, get a set or at least one of those old Schaller M4B tuners.

This bass has special angled bushings. The old ones require those old M4 tuners and are made of plastic. So I If I do not find at least one of those old Schaller M4B tuners I have to replace those old bushings with new ones that Warwick sells.

    https://shop.warwick.de/en/parts-for-instruments/warwick-spare-parts/machine-heads-parts/16104/warwick-parts-bushing-for-angled-mounted-schaller-m4-machine-heads-post-2018-on-warwick-thumb-84-87-black?c=3532

According to the description of this bushing all new Schaller M4 tuners with a 14mm post diameter will fit. Is that correct?

But do you guys know if other tuners with 14mm post diameter will fit those bushings as well? e.g. Hip Shot Ultralite 3/8"

Alternatively ... does anybody know where I can get at least one of those old Schaller M4B tuners?

    Thanks
    Dan

  2. Hello

Up for sale is my Docwood Precision Bass made in Italy in 2022

Docwood is run by the Italian luthier Davide Palumbo

    https://www.docwoodguitars.com

This bass was built according to my wishes with the following specs:

    - swamp ash body
    - quartersawn roasted flame maple neck
    - rosewood fingerboard
    - fender custom shop 62 pickup
    - hipshot tuner
    - 44 mm nut width
    - flat/shallow neck Profile
    - metallic purple (Nitro)

The weight of this bass is 3.6 Kilos

It comes with a Harley Benton "LightCase", Warwick Security Locks and a additional white pickguard (currently equipped with a black pickguard).

The condition in general is very good except for two aspects:

    1) I managed to put some Dings and Dongs into the body (See pictures)
    2) The original lacquer faded quite a bit. The original colour can be seen under the pickguard 😅

Price is 1.400 Eur or whatever that is in your currency.

Shipping within the European Union is included in the price. Shipping to the UK is 30 Eur extra. Shipping to the US is 90 Eur extra. For other destinations please ask.

Please be aware that import taxes and most likely custom fees must be paid to your local authorities if you buy this bass and get it shipped to anywhere outside the European Union.

Payment by bank transfer, PayPal or in cash if you can and want to pick the bass up locally in Memmingen or Munich.

    Thanks
    Daniel

  4. Hello there !

I am wondering where to get a replacement pickguard (10 holes) for a Fender Custom Shop Precision bass.

I called Fender but I feel like the two persons I talked to didn't even understand my point. I also searched the web but besides companies that offer custom pickguards I could not find anything that is directly available to order.

    I am looking for a cream/black/cream pickguard.

Does anyone in here know a source where to get that ?

    Thanks in advance
    Dan

Yes, still available. Are you in Italy? I'm afraid I can't post internationally. Thanks

You should take a look at your forwarder of choice and his offerings. Shipping internationally, even into a different customs territory, is not as complicated as you may think and it opens up a new level of potential customers for you UK people ;)

Oh an btw: Beautiful and versatile bass

    Yes, it was Andertons.

Ha, I was so tempted to buy it from them since the price was quite good - I think 1.399 GBP or even less? - but then "someone" was faster ;)

I'm back in G&L land after some time out.  Here's the CLF Research L-1000 I took possession of this week:

Royal purple.  Lovely finish, difficult to photograph ;)

Did you get it from Andertons if I may ask?

  8. I am looking for a purple L 1000 or LB 100 at the moment which is pretty tough if you don't want to place an option order that takes 6-12 months at the moment. The availability of US made G&L basses in Europe is quite poor.

    I own a purple L 2000 but I want more G&Ls in my life ;)
