1. Hi chaps,

All of a sudden my Stingray has developed a weird and extreme overtone on the E string, which becomes more noticeable the higher up you play - barely hear anything at low G but at high G it literally sounds like two notes half a semitone apart!

Having done a bit of digging (didn't find much on here mind) and found a list of possible factors I'm guessing the most likely cause is some actual string issue, given the sudden onset, rather than something like string height (which may well have dropped in this weather, but I always have very low) or an electrical issue.

I just wondered what opinions you chaps might have, before I go lashing out on a new set of strings which of course might not solve the problem?

    Cheers,

    Andy

  2. Ped and team, you have done a great job. I have undergone other fora migrations in the past and this has been as smooth (and actually beneficial) as any. You tried to warn people but ultimately they have to take responsibility! Lead a horse to water...

SO let's all concentrate on the whizzy new positives

  3. Bought a pair of Congas off Mick - excellent condition, good price, and a very friendly chap - even let me have a go of his Ritter while I was there (very nice too!) :) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Cheers!

  4. I'm dead chuffed to announce that I'll be playing with the Paramount Blues Band at St Harmonica's Blues Club in Southgate (N London) next Friday, 9 May!

The address is 6 Cannon Hill, N14 7HG. Doors open at 8 and admission is free! We're on from 9-10 and 10.30-11.30. Be great to see anyone from Basschat!

  5. Clearly it must be something about Teal finish and photography - the massive inconsistencies in the look of those photos demonstrate it must be a photographic effect (flash and reflection maybe?).

SO all those photos I;d seen before probably weren't true reflections (pardon the pun!) ...

  6. Browsing for Stingrays I came across this!

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Musicman-Stingray-Bass-Guitar-l-h-serial-no-L-00001-/281131086116?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4174b7f124

Wonder what the reserve's set to! If only I was ambidextrous... :)

  7. Time to resurrect this thread - decided to keep it before but it really does have to go now as I've bought yet more gear and the wife is complaining! Plus it's much too nice to be unused. So last chance for you guys before it all goes on fleabay... And I'll drop the price to £300.

Would still prefer to let it all go together but if I don't get a suitable offer for the lot will split it.

  8. Bought a Barefaced Compact from Mike which sadly was damaged in transit (through no fault of his packaging, I would stress); Mike was first class about it, unhesitatingly offering a full refund if I wanted one and contacting Alex to find out about repairs etc. We rapidly reached a satisfactory compromise thanks to his straightforward and helpful attitude. I wouldn't have the slightest hesitation about dealing with him again - a very honest, genuine and helpful chap. Thanks Mike!

  9. Bought a pair of Peavey monitors from Jim, very pleased - good and friendly communications, very reasonable price and excellent packaging! :) Wouldn't hesitate for a moment to deal with him again.
