This is an insane price for what is a close to £3k bass, if you wanted one building. As a previous owner I can  say this is an absolute stunner. It is light and you can dial in some great tones with the filter Pre-Amp and coil switching. If it hadn't been for the onset of arthritis making me change to medium scale, another ACG, I would never have sold this one. Alan originally built it for himself and I bought it direct from him.

Tom is great to deal with as well.

Thanks for the kind words Stu. I absolutely love this bass but needs must at the moment sadly.

  2. Sadly I really do need to let this go now so it's priced accordingly.

This is a beautiful bass, great weight, well balanced, has a low action and plays like a dream.

    Body wood – black limba

    Top wood – curly redwood

    Neck – lightly asymmetric, maple/wenge/padauk

    Fingerboard – acrylic impregnated wenge

Pickups – ACG overwound single (neck) ACG humbucker (bridge), both have toggles for splitting

Electronics – ACG/East SEQ+ preamp. Essentially a powerful tone control for each pickup plus a global treble control for adding extra bite (think Wal or Stingray)

Hardware – Hipshot, Dunlop strap pins

    Weight – 8.8lbs

    Scale length – 34"

Shipping is go-able and collection is always welcome too.

I would potentially consider a trade for something of lower value and cash my way. A new one to this spec would set you back £3000+ so this is a ridiculous bargain.

Out of my price range at the moment, but I don’t understand this bit of the spec:

”Pickups – ACG overwound single (neck) ACG humbucker (bridge), both have toggles for splitting”

How does the toggle on the single coil work? Or is it a narrow double coil, or maybe something else?

The neck single coil is overwound so it's fairly aggressive tonally, the switch is a coil tap which knocks it back to make it smoother and mellower. Does that make more sense?

  4. *Price drop to £600*

I’m selling my recently acquired Maruszczyk Jake. It’s a superb Precision and incredibly light at 7lbs. I’ve found that very lightweight instruments aren’t always particularly resonant or full sounding but this one really is, I was surprised at how great it sounds; superb sustain too. I’d love to keep it but I have my eye on something in particular! One thing to note is there's a bit of an irregularity in the finish on the top horn (pictured).

    Body wood – alder

    Neck – Jazz neck, maple

    Scale length - 34"

    Fingerboard – rosewood

    Pickup – Delano

    Electronics – passive

    Hardware – Maruszczyk

    Weight – 7lbs

I don’t have a case for this but I’m willing to ship (GB only) and I have a super sturdy double-walled box and a ton of wrap so it’s very do-able. Collection always welcome too. No trade offers please.

Any questions, drop me a PM.

  5. **priced to go - now £1100**

I’m selling my ACG Skelf, acquired from here last year. I’m a bit obsessed with ACGs and this is one of the best I’ve ever played. It’s beautiful bass, well balanced, has a low action and plays like a dream. I'm loathe to let this go as it's a pretty wonderful bass but there's something specific I have my eye on.

Any questions just drop me a PM. I'd be interested in trades for a 4 stringer, especially a Warwick neck through of some sort. I would say trade value would be more but open to discussion. Ordering a new one to this spec would set you back £3000+ so it's a bit of a bargain!

  6. For sale or trade is my ACG Recurve 5 fretless.

I acquired this this year in a trade and it's an absolute beast of a bass but I'm kidding myself if I think I'm a fretless player! There's so much growl to this bass and easily found with the powerful East pre (3-band, not filters).

It's in excellent condition. There's a small, shallow indentation on the front and some small marks here and there including the top of the headstock. All good for a 10 year old bass. There's some scuffing on the fingerboard where previous users were bending the strings but it's all surface and only really noticeable in direct light. Also, face dots have been added by a previous owner in the NS style, which has been very nicely done. It's currently strung with SIT Silencer semi-flats. Spec below.

As a straight sale I'm thinking £750 is a bargain and am firm on that price. It'd cost £2000+ as a new commission from Alan. I love ACGs and have had a few – this is definitely one of the best I've tried, it's not flashy but man does it sound good. Trade value I'm thinking long the lines of £1000 as it's been hand-crafted by a UK master luthier after all! Trade-wise I'm open to anything with frets to be honest, just shoot me a message.

    Spec

    • Alder body with black limba top

    • 3-piece maple neck, 34” scale

    • Ebony fingerboard with fret dots

    • 3-band John East preamp (Uni-Pre 3K)

    • ACG split coil P-style (neck) and humbucker (bridge)

    • Hipshot/Gotoh hardware

    • Weight is around 8.5lbs

    Any questions, just shout.
