Lovely! Looks great without the power station floor pickguard they shipped with!

Yup - agreed! You will also notice my other (heavily modified) SUB in the background with the abalone (i think) pickguard. Looks much better that way.

  2. I actually got this on saturday, but I didn't get the new pickguard until today, so I took some photos. Thought I would treat myself and try to get playing a little more again. It's a tidy little number I reckon :)

    please excuse the photo quality

  3. Collected a bass from Martyn today, the bass was as described and he even let me have a little play on the rest of his collection (which I'm now very jealous of!). I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again
    cheers!

  4. Played my first proper gig in years on wednesday night (you might notice i've been absent from these parts for a good while now), it was with some folk I've been jamming and playing open mics with a little recently. Last week, the singer asked me if I could play in a gig she had lined up, and could I learn a 45 minute set? I said yes, not realised what I'd gotten myself into - a week isn't long enough to properly learn a 45 minute set! We had three short practices, none of which the full band was present for and was properly ropey, but somehow, it all came together on the night. We messed up in a few places, but I don't think many people noticed, and we had a really good reception - probably the best gig I ever played! We've decided to keep at it and get some more gigs, and I've got more motivation to play and will be buying a new bass tomorrow, so good stuff all round!

    couple of photos :)

I'm pretty sure the nut width is the same on all of them except for the old SUB sterling, which had the same nut width as a sterling, obviously...

  6. Bit late here, but better late than never! Yeah, it's a Bongo preamp, looks like a pretty standard op amp based unit to me, pretty sure most are, just designed slightly differently.
Anyway, I never managed to get that preamp working, need to send it to a guitar tech at some point and get it done really. I've just been playing it with the pickup wired straight to output. Works/sounds fine.

  7. If they're named after a particular brand or model of amp, they'll be paying a certain amount to that brand I would imagine. I know several manufacturers are working together on amp sim software like Amplitube. Why would they not? It's another market.
